Korea’s largest construction, architecture and interior exhibition in 2020
A variety of special theme halls planned, including a Zero-Energy Building special hall
‘Korea Build,’ Korea’s largest specialized exhibition for construction, architecture and interior design, hosted by exhibition specialist Messe Esang Co., Ltd., will be held at COEX in Seoul from July 2 to 5.
The exhibition covers everything related to building materials, building equipment, interiors, and architectural design/construction. △ The building materials sector introduces excellent equipment and materials as well as new technologies from Korea and abroad for architectural construction, including the structural materials that make up a building, the exterior finishing materials that define its appearance, the insulation materials for thermal protection, the window and door materials for lighting/ventilation/views, and the tools used at construction and building sites.
△ The building equipment sector introduces construction and building equipment, materials and systems that enhance the utility of buildings, such as heating and cooling, ventilation, home networks, and elevators. △ The interior sector puts the spotlight on interior materials as well as the equipment and materials needed for bathrooms and kitchens, and even provides total interior solutions through customized consulting. △ The architectural design and construction sector introduces a wide range of new products and new construction methods, including various building structures and construction methods such as timber, steel, concrete and container houses; structural reinforcement materials such as anchors, rock bolts and couplers; temporary construction materials such as scaffolding and railings; landscaping and architectural facilities; and customized design/construction consulting.
Special theme halls reflecting the latest industry issues and trends have also been prepared. △ Beginning with public buildings of 1,000㎡ or larger in 2020, mandatory ‘Zero-Energy Building’ standards will be phased in for all buildings by 2030. Zero-energy building refers to minimizing energy consumption by applying high-insulation, high-airtightness and high-performance building materials to minimize the amount of energy lost to the outside, and by utilizing renewable energy such as solar and geothermal power to cover the energy used for heating, cooling and the like. Korea Build will feature the ‘Zero-Energy Building Special Hall’ as its main theme hall. It will spotlight a diverse range of innovative technologies and products, from high-insulation, high-airtightness and high-performance materials in Korea and abroad to renewable energy technologies such as solar and geothermal power.
△ The ‘Art Collaboration Pavilion,’ a collaboration project between promising interior designers and building material brands that drew great attention at previous exhibitions, will be held again at this exhibition. By adding artistic sensibility (Master Piece) to building materials of cold physical properties (Material), it offers the public a fresh and unique experience. △ An ‘Interior Consulting Hall’ will be operated for those planning a remodeling, prospective building owners, and customers who need to renew their space for a business start-up. Meanwhile, Korea Build is the new name adopted by ‘Kyunghyang Housing Fair,’ Korea’s first architecture fair, in its bid to leap forward as a global fair. ‘Kyunghyang Housing Fair’ is held each year, touring major cities across the country including Daegu, Busan, Gwangju and Jeju in addition to the Seoul metropolitan area. Among these, the ‘Kyunghyang Housing Fair’ editions held at KINTEX in Ilsan in the first half of the year and at COEX in Seoul and BEXCO in Busan in the second half have been renamed ‘Korea Build.’ Declaring its leap beyond Asia to become a leading global fair, it has expanded its scale and strengthened its specialization. As the first among domestic architecture fairs to receive UFI certification, it is leading the way in internationalization and the strengthening of the B2B domain.
