Applies its own ‘Royal Wood’ coating to wooden facilities and structures
Plans to continue repair work so children can fully enjoy the forest
KCC and the Korea Future Environment Association recently repaired the Children's Forest Experience Centers (hereinafter “Children's Forests”) at Umyeonsan in Seocho-gu and Cheongnyongsan in Gwanak-gu as part of the ‘To the Forest, To the Future’ campaign. Together with Haechansol in Gangnam-gu and Jangji Park in Songpa-gu this past May, KCC has newly refurbished four Children's Forests this year alone, ensuring that children can use them more safely over the long term.
A Children's Forest is a place where children can commune with nature and play to their heart's content, engaging in five-senses experiential activities—touching, seeing, hearing, smelling, and feeling. Children's Forests feature a wide variety of wooden facilities and structures, but over time wood changes its original color and shape due to moisture, sunlight, and other factors. If left unattended for a long period, it can deteriorate and break, potentially exposing children to danger. In response, KCC selects Children's Forests in need of maintenance and repair and has been carrying out activities to apply its own ‘Royal Wood’ paint to the wooden facilities.
Applying KCC Royal Wood to wood brings out the natural color and grain of the material and minimizes damage caused by the external environment, allowing the wood to maintain its original appearance. In addition, by coating the surface, it can prevent accidents such as wood rotting and breaking or children being pricked by splinters from wooden structures.
KCC carries out these Children's Forest repairs to help children grow up healthily alongside forests where trees, flowers, birds, insects, and more live and breathe. As using its own paint to repair Children's Forests carries the special meaning of benefiting children and their families, KCC plans to continue creating sustainable Children's Forests going forward.
