Strengthening awareness of fair-trade compliance
On-the-ground CP activities carried out
KCC held an employee-participation ‘Compliance Day’ event to strengthen awareness of fair-trade compliance and to translate that awareness into practice.
The event was designed to establish a hands-on CP (Compliance Program) culture in which employees actively participate, centered on the Fair Trade Voluntary Compliance Practice Leaders (hereinafter ‘Practice Leaders’). In the first half of this year, KCC held a Compliance Day event under the direction of the CEO and appointed all team leaders across the company as Practice Leaders.
Through the Compliance Day event, the Practice Leaders conducted training tailored to the work characteristics of each team, based on the Fair Trade Voluntary Compliance Manual and key operational guides (the Fair Trade Act, the Subcontracting Act, the Agency Act, the Trade Secret Protection Act, and others). Through this, team members reviewed fair-trade risks that could arise in the course of their work and drew up improvement measures, while also sharing actual cases and discussing ways to raise compliance awareness. In addition, by sharing prior-work consultation systems such as standard contract reviews and internal transaction deliberations, as well as internal reporting systems such as the Cyber Grievance Center, they reinforced the framework for preventing risks in advance.
This ‘Compliance Day’ is significant in that it was expanded company-wide on a team-by-team basis, taking a form in which employees participated directly.
KCC expects that this Compliance Day event will bring about positive changes across its organizational culture, including enhanced communication and cooperation between teams, greater transparency in operations, and a review of its system for early risk detection and response. The company also plans to continue strengthening compliance awareness by holding future events in which employees across the company participate on a team-by-team basis.
