Unveils BIPV Integrating Solar Modules into Outdoor Unit Room Louvers
Reveals the ‘Solar System Louver’ and Registers a Total of Four Related Technology Patents

LX Hausys took part in the ‘Seoul Climate Tech Conference,’ held on November 28 at the Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) in Seoul, where it unveiled the ‘Solar System Louver’—a product that combines solar power generation with the louvers of air conditioner outdoor unit rooms in apartment complexes—and actively moved to tap into the building renewable energy market.
The ‘Seoul Climate Tech Conference’ is an event held for the first time by the Seoul Metropolitan Government with the aim of sharing and communicating industry trends related to climate tech, such as greenhouse gas reduction and building carbon reduction technologies, in order to achieve the national ‘2050 Carbon Neutrality’ strategy.
For this event, LX Hausys set up a dedicated exhibition booth and organized its display around the ‘Solar System Louver’ product, which contributes to the government’s policy—to be phased in through 2025—that mandates zero-energy buildings for newly constructed buildings.
The ‘Solar System Louver’ is a BIPV (Building Integrated Photovoltaic System) product in which solar modules are integrated into the louvers of air conditioner outdoor unit rooms in apartment complexes.
It satisfies all 21 items of the KS (KSC8577) standard—covering electrical, structural, and safety performance requirements demanded of BIPV products—and, in particular, rather than the common grid connection used by other BIPV products, it uses per-household grid connection and individual inverters to form a safer system voltage. It also adds a rapid shut-off function in the event of an anomaly, thereby enhancing electrical fire safety.
In addition, compared with existing BIPV products, the ‘Solar System Louver’ secures significant comparative advantages in terms of space efficiency and ease of installation and maintenance. Rather than a method that requires securing separate space on the exterior of a building—such as the rooftop or exterior walls—to install solar modules, one simply replaces the existing aluminum louvers with solar module louvers.
Because the product structure uses a connector-based method rather than one that requires individually fixing each solar module to a frame and connecting the wires to one another on the exterior of the building, it is highly convenient—one need only insert the individual blades (vanes) of the louver from indoors.
Through this blade-type attach-and-detach mechanism technology for solar modules, LX Hausys has to date completed the registration of a total of four related patents.
