Creative Work Explores Catalonia Together with Gaudí
Applications Accepted Through August 31; Classes Begin August 29, Held Every Tuesday
Creative Work (CEO Min Hee-sik), in partnership with Yonsei University’s Institute for Future Education, is recruiting students for the first cohort of ‘Gaudí and the Architecture of Catalonia’ through August 31.
Creative Work, which has been producing educational content related to travel and art, planned this course to seek answers for eco-friendly future architecture through the genius Spanish architect Gaudí, who is drawing renewed attention for his Eco-Art. Upon completion, students who wish to continue will have the opportunity to explore medieval architecture alongside experts—including Montserrat, the world’s first monastery steeped in Gaudí’s architecture and the legend of King Arthur; Girona, famous as a filming location for Game of Thrones; and the fortress ruins of Tossa de Mar.
Min Hee-sik, CEO of Creative Work and the course’s lead instructor, emphasized Gaudí’s genius as being a century ahead of his time, saying, “Eco and carbon neutrality are global topics of discussion. Gaudí began applying the concept of Eco-Art to his buildings 100 years ago, and his design inspiration was drawn from the cultural traditions of the Catalonia region of Spain.” Through the lectures, the long-veiled secrets of Gaudí’s architecture and newly revealed facts about the Sagrada Família basilica will be disclosed.
A separately conducted on-site field trip to Catalonia includes a master class program held under the cooperation of the Gaudí Knowledge association in Barcelona. The master class program is scheduled to run for one week. As a liberal arts course, it is open not only to those majoring in architecture and design but also to members of the general public who wish to experience a special journey.
‘Gaudí and the Architecture of Catalonia’ features as its main instructors Min Hee-sik, CEO of Creative Work and former editor-in-chief of Esquire, who has taught ‘A World Travel School for Solo Travelers’ at Yonsei’s Institute for Future Education and ‘Understanding Art-Tech for Collectors’ in the art field, along with architect Choi Yu-cheol of Seoin Architects, winner of the Architecture MasterPrize at the Guggenheim Bilbao in Spain. In addition, a number of Gaudí experts are scheduled to be invited as special guest lecturers for the course.
