"Drawing Visitors with Flawless Disease Prevention"

The 'Seoul Kyunghyang Housing Fair,' Korea's leading specialized exhibition for construction, architecture, and interior design—with more than 200 companies and some 450 booths participating—was held at SETEC for a total of four days, from June 4 to 7.

The organizer, Messe Esang, explained, "As this exhibition had been postponed due to COVID-19, we drew visitors in with a meticulous protocol and flawless disease prevention, thereby contributing to the economic activities of the participating companies." Disease-prevention measures at the Seoul Kyunghyang Housing Fair were carried out both inside and outside the exhibition hall. Thermal imaging cameras and on-site medical professionals restricted entry to anyone with a body temperature of 37.5 degrees or higher, and those who had entered the country from abroad within the previous 14 days were barred from entering.

The scene at the registration desk changed as well. Unmanned registration kiosks, introduced for the first time this year, minimized person-to-person contact. Air showers were installed at the entrance of each exhibition hall to wash away dust and germs with high-speed air and alcohol disinfectant. Hand sanitizer and disinfection devices were placed throughout the venue, and all fixtures were regularly disinfected. Wearing a mask was mandatory inside the exhibition hall, and those without a mask were denied entry.

Beyond thorough disease prevention and protocols, there were many other elements that drew visitors in. The '2020 Seoul Kyunghyang Housing Fair' also held special exhibitions reflecting the key issues in the construction, architecture, and interior design industries, providing visitors with an abundance of things to see. The 'Country House Special Exhibition,' which offered actual house displays along with on-site consultations and contracts, attracted large numbers of residents and homeowners from the Seoul/Gyeonggi area, where demand for country houses is high. Also held were the 'Windows & Doors Special Exhibition,' which showcased products with energy-saving and insulation functions; the 'Waterproofing Special Exhibition,' which introduced rooftop and interior waterproofing products that stand up to the summer rainy season; and the 'Home Furnishing Special Exhibition,' which displayed lifestyle-tailored furniture. Seminars offering expert knowledge spanning landscaping, architecture, and real estate—such as 'Breaking Down the Boundary Between Garden and Farm: The Kitchen Garden' and 'Know It or Get Burned! Learn It Right and Build It Together'—also drew a favorable response.

The 'Kyunghyang Housing Fair,' which tours five cities nationwide—Seoul, Jeju, Gwangju, Suwon, and Daegu—will continue right away with exhibitions in Gwangju and Jeju. Following the 'Gwangju Kyunghyang Housing Fair,' which opened on June 18, the 'Jeju Kyunghyang Housing Fair' will be held at ICC Jeju from June 25 to 28. 1577-6695
