Daeyu Plus, Applied in Tunnels
Optimal Control Heating System Technology
Daeyu Plus (CEO Park Sang-min), an affiliate of the Daeyu Winia Group, announced that it has applied its 'Carbon Nanotube Heating Sheet' to an expressway tunnel managed by the Korea Expressway Corporation, with the aim of preventing icicles during the winter season.
Last month, Daeyu Plus applied its in-house-developed carbon nanotube heating sheet to a 200-meter section running in both directions of an expressway tunnel located in Gyeongsangbuk-do. Installed on the tunnel walls, the carbon nanotube heating sheet serves to prevent icicles inside the tunnel through On-Off operation of the control system based on external temperature sensing.
Prior to this, Daeyu Plus developed a carbon nanotube heating sheet for gang forms that can cut the use of hot-air blowers for concrete curing in winter by half, and conducted field validation at four sites over three years at the construction sites of major domestic builders, Company G and Company H. As a result, its uniform heat generation and excellent heat diffusion speed improved energy efficiency and shortened the winter concrete curing period by more than 30%.
Park Sang-min, CEO of Daeyu Plus, said, "Based on our carbon nanotube planar heating element technology, the fruit of more than a decade of nano-material research, and on our years of construction experience, we have developed an optimal control system that prevents disasters caused by winter icing problems such as icicles and black ice," adding, "Next year, for the sake of public safety, we will accelerate this business so that it can be widely applied not only in major tunnels but also across various construction fields."
Meanwhile, Daeyu Plus plans to expand this carbon nanotube planar heating element technology into an eco-friendly-energy-linked heating system, and furthermore, in connection with other business areas of the Daeyu Winia Group, plans to apply it to home appliances, vehicle seats, electric vehicle heating systems, and more.
