Seoul Energy Dream Center
Raising citizens' awareness of environmental and scientific culture
The Seoul Energy Dream Center (Director Yuk Kyung-sook) is holding the exhibition ‘Seeing the Environment Through the Eyes of Science’ through May 31.
This exhibition is part of the 2022 touring exhibition of items developed by national science museums, and was organized to encourage citizens' participation in environmental and scientific culture and to spread awareness of sustainable development.
The Seoul Energy Dream Center, located in Peace Park in Sangam-dong, is Korea's first energy-independent, eco-friendly public building, and operates a variety of hands-on educational programs related to the environment, energy, and climate change in the heart of Seoul.
The touring exhibition of items developed by national science museums is part of a scientific-culture content-sharing project in which fun and unique science exhibits developed by national science museums are displayed at affiliated institutions.
This exhibition will feature more than 10 environment- and science-convergence exhibits selected from among those developed by four national science museums (Central, Daegu, Gwangju, and Busan). Through exhibits such as △the Sundial Simulator △the K-SDGs Puzzle △the Wind Energy Blade and △Can You Turn On Light With Light?, citizens can experience the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the principles of nature and energy all in one place while gaining knowledge of the environment and science.
The exhibition is divided into two sections. Part 1 covers basic and applied science, allowing visitors to experience the principles of nature and energy. Part 2 offers an exhibition that helps visitors understand the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Korea's National Sustainable Development Goals (K-SDGs) derived from them, and to reflect on environmental pollution and the climate crisis.
In particular, this exhibition carries even greater environmental significance in that the Seoul Energy Dream Center, a zero-energy building, operates all of the exhibits using renewable energy that it generates itself through its solar power system.
The exhibition is held at the Dream Gallery on the first floor of the Seoul Energy Dream Center, and anyone can view it free of charge through on-site registration. For more details, visit the Seoul Energy Dream Center website.
