Business Vehicles by 2030

Over 60 Zero-Emission Vehicles

Kumho Petrochemical (CEO Baek Jong-hun) is joining the ‘Korean Zero-Emission Vehicle Transition 100’ (hereafter K-EV100) initiative and beginning the transition of business vehicles at all of its worksites to eco-friendly zero-emission vehicles.

The K-EV100 program, overseen by the Ministry of Environment and the Korea Automobile Environment Association, is a collaborative initiative under which participating companies convert all vehicles they own or lease to zero-emission vehicles by 2030, in order to improve air quality and achieve carbon neutrality in the transportation sector. Its aim is to increase the proportion of zero-emission vehicles, such as electric and hydrogen vehicles, among corporate fleets so that companies’ business activities naturally contribute to reducing greenhouse gases and air pollutants.

Kumho Petrochemical has been proactively preparing for the transition to eco-friendly vehicles, piloting hydrogen fuel cell business vehicles at its Ulsan worksite since 2020.

Alongside this declaration of participation in K-EV100, Kumho Petrochemical’s ESG Committee plans to further expand zero-emission vehicles and charging infrastructure across all worksites, aiming to operate approximately 60 business zero-emission vehicles company-wide by 2030.

Park Chan-koo, Chairman of Kumho Petrochemical Group, said, “We regard our participation in K-EV100 to achieve our carbon neutrality goal as highly meaningful, and Kumho Petrochemical Group will continue to pursue genuine ESG activities going forward.”

Baek Jong-hun, CEO of Kumho Petrochemical, also stated, “As with this K-EV100 declaration, we will continue to concentrate our capabilities on having all worksites work together to implement a strategy that accelerates carbon emission reductions through the transition to clean energy.”

Meanwhile, Kumho Petrochemical announced its carbon-neutral growth plan earlier this year. Designating 2035—when annual carbon emission reductions are expected to exceed the increase in emissions—as the first year of a new era of carbon-neutral growth, the company is striving to achieve ultimate carbon-neutral growth by 2050.
