Plans to actively target the Green Building certification business with its low-carbon certified insulation

Working to reduce carbon through low-carbon certification, HB mark acquisition, and more

Hugreen, Kumho Petrochemical's building materials brand, announced that its PF board insulation has obtained low-carbon product certification.

The 'Low-Carbon Product Certification' obtained by Hugreen's PF board was earned through the Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) certification, which can be awarded when the carbon footprint value among the environmental information is at or below the maximum allowable carbon emissions, or when the minimum carbon reduction rate is applied. The Environmental Product Declaration evaluates the environmental impact across all stages of a product or service, including raw material extraction, production, transportation and distribution, use, and disposal. Hugreen's PF board passed evaluations across seven categories, including resource footprint, carbon footprint, and ozone layer impact. In addition, now that its PF board has been certified as a low-carbon insulation, Hugreen plans to actively participate in the green building business. This is because the value of Hugreen PF board—a low-carbon certified building material—has increased under the Green Building Certification (G-SEED) system, which awards additional points when low-carbon building materials are used in residential and non-residential housing.

Heo Kwon-wook, head of Kumho Petrochemical's building materials business division, said, "Hugreen PF board has secured its position as a low-carbon building material by obtaining low-carbon certification in addition to its outstanding insulation performance," adding, "In particular, the low-carbon certified PF board makes it easy to earn additional points and can help reduce carbon, so we expect it to be actively adopted in green building projects."

As an eco-friendly building materials brand, Hugreen continues to strive to reduce carbon. Produced and supplied by D&K Chemtech, a joint venture between Kumho P&B Chemicals and Dongsung Chemical, Hugreen PF board obtained the top grade of the Healthy Building Material (HB) certification and the Environmental Product Declaration certification this past February based on the two companies' differentiated technologies. Now, by securing this low-carbon product certification, it has strengthened its position as an eco-friendly insulation.

Meanwhile, Hugreen is a portmanteau of "Humanism" and "Green," and is Kumho Petrochemical's eco-friendly building materials brand that considers both people and the environment. Placing respect for humanity as its highest value, Hugreen works to realize a beautiful and comfortable residential culture based on a brand philosophy of living in harmony with nature.
