Roh Sang-chul, CEO and Chairman of Shinil Frame Co., Ltd., the manufacturer of the molding brand 'MIGA,' has been selected as a 'Proud Small and Medium Business Leader.'

The 'Proud Small and Medium Business Leader' program is run by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and the Korea Federation of SMEs to identify and honor outstanding business leaders who have contributed to the development of national industry through management rationalization, export growth, technology development, and more, thereby promoting exemplary role models among SME leaders. Chairman Roh Sang-chul was selected as a 'Proud Small and Medium Business Leader' for achievements that serve as a model to other companies in evaluation categories including management innovation, technology and R&D, social contribution, workplace environment improvement, and employment promotion.

Roh Sang-chul, CEO and Chairman of Shinil Frame, founded a picture-frame shop called Shinil Sangsa in Gwanghwamun in 1967, and in July 1994 converted the business into a corporation manufacturing and selling picture-frame moldings and architectural decorative moldings, building up 55 years of achievements in the fields of picture frames and architectural decorative moldings. As of the end of December 2021, Shinil Frame had filed for 6 invention patents, 208 design registrations, and 8 trademarks. As an export-driven SME, it has obtained ISO9001 and ISO14001 certifications and was designated a technology-innovative SME (Inno-Biz).

In particular, in 2021 the company grew into an export-strong SME, exporting USD 21.66 million to some 60 countries around the world. Chairman Roh Sang-chul took office as Chairman of the Korea Frame Industry Cooperative in February 1999 and, still serving in that role as of 2022, has pioneered sales channels in countries worldwide and jointly participated with the industry in overseas exhibitions for new products and materials in order to prevent excessive competition among domestic companies, playing a pivotal role in the balanced development of domestic SME molding manufacturers.

On the social-contribution front as well, under Chairman Roh Sang-chul's long-held conviction that a company must achieve balanced development together with its local community, he is working to contribute to the development of the Paju area, where the company's headquarters and factory are located. As of 2022 he serves in numerous local-community roles, including Vice Chairman of the Paju Chamber of Commerce and Industry, member of the Police Development Committee of Paju Police Station, advisor to the Wollong-myeon Business Leaders' Council, member of the Tax Administration Development Committee of Paju Tax Office, director of the Paju City Happiness Scholarship Foundation, and member of the Law-Love Committee of the Ministry of Justice's Goyang-Paju Regional Association.

Shinil Frame is also taking exemplary steps in environmental management and energy conservation, which have recently emerged as key issues. Shinil Frame is a company that recycles expanded polystyrene ingots—commonly known as waste Styrofoam—to manufacture and sell architectural decorative moldings, turning Styrofoam waste into a product in the form of architectural decorative moldings. Of its total 2021 sales of KRW 32.4 billion, exports accounted for 76% (KRW 24.8 billion) and domestic sales for 23% (KRW 7.6 billion). In recognition of its energy-conservation efforts and dedication to resource recycling, the company received a Presidential Citation in 2000 and the Gold Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit in 2004.

The 'MIGA Charcoal Louver and MIGA Charcoal Deco Wall' produced by Shinil Frame are interior moldings that not only reproduce the look of solid wood, stone, and fabric but also serve as architectural finishing accents, allowing for a variety of designs depending on how they are combined. They are highly moisture-resistant and offer superior installation performance compared with existing products. They can express fine embossed textures, can replace solid wood and marble at more economical prices than natural materials, and contain no substances that cause sick-house syndrome, providing a safe indoor space.

Since 2000, Shinil Frame has converted all of its employees to permanent positions with no contract or dispatched workers. 'MIGA Charcoal Louver' is an idea product that improves both design and installation performance so that molding—previously regarded merely as part of a finish—can be extended and installed across an entire space. Lighter and easier to install than conventional wooden louvers, it dramatically reduces logistics and construction costs. The MIGA Charcoal Louver features a half-lap joining system that creates natural seams and enables simple, fast installation. Its sturdy joining system enhances the louver's connectivity and design completeness, and because even ordinary consumers can install it themselves, it is also anticipated to become a DIY product in the future.
