Theme of Maison&Objet September 2022, ‘META SENSIBLE’ — more than 2,200 brands on display

The decoration, design and lifestyle fair ‘Maison&Objet September 2022’ was held from September 8 to 12 at the Paris Nord Villepinte Exhibition Centre.

Maison&Objet’s aim is to discover talent, foster networking and provide inspiration across its online platform and offline exhibitions, thereby helping businesses grow. Holding two trade fairs a year, along with Paris Design Week each September — which brings together the creative energy of designers and brands in Paris — Maison&Objet is an essential platform for all interior design industry professionals.

This edition of the deco, design and lifestyle fair Maison&Objet unfolded in a warm and convivial atmosphere, as more than 2,200 exhibiting brands welcomed close to 59,000 visitors who were more enthusiastic than ever for the coming season. In particular, iconic brands that had been absent from the fair for several seasons — such as Serax, Ethnicraft, Les Héritiers, Seletti, Ibride, Maison Berger and Bonton — made their return as the pandemic situation improved.

With close to 500 new companies taking part in this Maison&Objet Paris, the industry once again underscored the depth of its creativity and innovation. The visitor figures were also very positive. The fair drew 58,688 visitors, 36% of whom came from abroad, confirming the return of South Korea, India and Japan as well as growing interest from the Americas (1,068 visitors from the United States and 205 from Canada).

The theme of this September edition was ‘META SENSIBLE.’ After two years of the COVID pandemic, the September Maison&Objet Paris fair invited visitors into a new world that everyone had been dreaming of — one reflecting a demand for meaning and emotion. Our era gives rise to a longing for interiors that strike a delicate balance between the desire to remain in the real world, surrounded by handcrafted works, craftsmanship and materials that can actually be touched, and, conversely, the desire to inhabit a digital world free from all physical constraints. ‘META SENSIBLE’ signifies a physical world that no longer stands in opposition to the digital world. The two worlds influence each other, grow richer and merge into one, becoming a new medium for creation, communication and distribution.

The fair featured numerous enjoyable spaces and special events. ▲Visitors could feel the mood of the season in the ‘What’s New?’ space staged by trend experts Elizabeth Leriche, François Bernard and François Delclaux. ▲The ‘Cook&Share’ section was full of wonderful energy, and the ‘Waww la’ Table’ project space — created by an Instagram account that has gained fame over the past two years for its popular content and beautiful reception settings — offered plenty of delight. A cooking demonstration presented by Gault&Millau to celebrate the first publication of ‘Guide 109,’ a gourmet recipe guide by up-and-coming chefs of the French culinary scene, also captivated visitors.

▲‘Spotlight,’ a gathering of new exhibitors; ▲‘Future On Stage,’ a springboard for emerging designers; ▲the restaurant setting of the signature section located in Hall 7, staged by Designer of the Year Cristina Celestino; and ▲the immersive Reminiscence palace installed at the entrance of Hall 7 were all must-see stops at Maison&Objet Paris that fascinated audiences.

▲To immerse visitors even further, Maison&Objet invited them to Paris Design Week, held in the heart of Paris. This year’s Paris Design Week set a new record, with more than 400 companies and showrooms taking part. Paris Design Week lit up Paris until September 17 through participating showrooms, galleries, cultural venues and historic buildings.

Meanwhile, Maison&Objet Paris will begin preparations for its next edition, scheduled to run from January 19 to 23, 2023. At the upcoming edition, various key events — including the Maison&Objet In The City itinerary launched last year — will all be organized around a new theme of participation and social responsibility. The next Rising Talent program will shine a spotlight on Spain.

Maison&Objet expressed its ambition to host fairs that guarantee the highest quality of products and experiences going forward. Through new features of the Maison&Objet Academy or MOM (Maison&Objet and More), the Maison&Objet ecosystem will meet the needs of the industry year-round.
