Created as a special space where nature meets media art
P2SG Global Co., Ltd. announced that it has completed the installation of Newmedia Glass at the Ttangkkeut Port Terminal in Haenam-gun, as part of a multi-functional port project that includes the new construction of harbor piers and terminals in Jeollanam-do.
Construction began in December 2019 and was completed on March 31, one year and four months later. The project was carried out with 3.174 billion won in provincial and national funding. Ttangkkeut Port had long lacked a passenger ferry terminal, causing inconvenience to users, and the project focused on improving the surrounding scenery and revitalizing the surrounding area in order to increase visits by tourists.
Ttangkkeut Port Terminal plays an important role in connecting the mainland with Bogildo, Nohwado, and Neopdo. When viewed from Ttangkkeut Village, the sky and sea open up widely, making it a suitable location for the installation of Newmedia Glass. In 2008, the port's official name was changed from Galdu Port to Ttangkkeut Port, and it currently operates the Sanyang route and the Neopdo route.
Through this project, Ttangkkeut Port Terminal has been created as a special space where nature meets media art. The Newmedia Glass installed on the second floor of the terminal was designed in the shape of a sunrise, and it broadcasts footage of the sea and sunrise, regional promotional videos, COVID-19 campaigns, and more. Going forward, the Newmedia Glass will provide a variety of information such as weather, tourism information, and disaster alerts, while also presenting seasonal content as beautiful art videos, creating a space where residents and tourists can find healing.
The state-of-the-art IT building material Newmedia Glass installed here uses a structure that does not employ any flexible printed circuit boards (FLEXIBLE PCB, FPCB) or printed circuit boards (PRINTED CIRCUIT BOARD, PCB). Because it requires no dedicated frame, large-screen implementation is possible and aesthetic appeal is maximized. Moreover, Newmedia Glass is a special building material optimized for installation at ports and coastal areas. With high strength and resistance to corrosion and acid, it is a new product with outstanding durability that functions without any problems even in environments with high humidity, strong winds, and salinity, such as ports.
Jeollanam-do expects that, through this project, the establishment of a distinctive cultural tourism foundation combining nature and media art will help Ttangkkeut Port Terminal grow into a leading attraction of Jeollanam-do and contribute to revitalizing the local economy.
