Samsung C&T–Ajou University to Apply the Technology to Remodeling Projects
Joint Development of New Housing Remodeling Technologies and Structural Design Programs
Samsung C&T's Engineering & Construction Group (hereinafter Samsung C&T) and Ajou University signed a memorandum of understanding for joint research and development of new remodeling technologies on November 22 at Samsung C&T's headquarters in Sangil-dong, Gangdong-gu, Seoul.
Marking this MOU as an opportunity, Samsung C&T and Ajou University agreed to cooperate on the development of new technologies related to housing remodeling as well as structural and design engineering programs, and to actively adopt the developed technologies in remodeling projects carried out by Samsung C&T.
Remodeling requires consideration of the existing building's structural stability and constructability from the design stage, and because numerous byproducts are generated during the frame demolition process, research to minimize them is needed.
Samsung C&T and Ajou University plan to secure design capabilities that can overcome the structural limitations of remodeling and to pursue research on reinforcing structural stability and minimizing the volume of frame demolition.
Samsung C&T has completed four housing remodeling projects and holds the associated construction technologies, while Ajou University carries out numerous national research projects related to remodeling.
Samsung C&T has completed remodeling projects such as Raemian Cheongdam Roiview and Raemian Daechi Highsten, and is set to carry out projects including the Geumho Byucksan remodeling in Seongdong-gu, the Godeok Anam remodeling in Gangdong-gu, and the Ichon Kolon remodeling in Yongsan-gu. Ajou University's Remodeling Research Center holds as many as 26 related technologies, including remodeling-related design technologies, structural safety technologies, and the development of low-cost, high-efficiency remodeling business models.
