DL E&C Marks Its 83rd Anniversary
Launches Hands-On Metaverse
DL E&C is holding an anniversary event in the metaverse. The company has created a virtual space so that all of its employees—including those at domestic sites and workers stationed overseas—can celebrate the anniversary and so that its diverse members, including the MZ generation, can connect with one another. In addition, an eco-friendly social contribution program for vulnerable groups and children in developing countries is being carried out alongside the event.
DL E&C, which marks its 83rd anniversary this year, is the oldest construction company in Korea. It took its first step in October 1939 as a construction materials sales company called ‘Burim Sanghoe,’ located in front of Bupyeong Station in Incheon. In 1947 it changed its name to ‘Daelim Industrial’ and made a full-fledged entry into the construction business, and last year it transitioned to a holding company structure and relaunched as DL E&C.
DL E&C has built the metaverse ‘DL City’ using DL landmarks such as its headquarters building, Acro Seoul Forest, and the Jamsil Sports Complex. Employees create their own characters and roam the virtual space to take part in a variety of events. Real-time O/X quizzes and escape-room games related to the company’s history and performance are underway. There is also an event in which participants experience D.VIEW, Korea’s first VR move-in service launched by DL E&C, while searching for hidden gifts.
Along with this, an eco-friendly social contribution program involving employees’ families is also under way. Environmental-education pop-up books made by employees’ families will be delivered to community children’s centers to be used as teaching materials. In addition, the company plans to collect unworn clothing and donate it to neighbors in need, such as youth shelters in Korea, multicultural families, jjokbang (single-room) districts, and developing countries.
