LG Hausys announced that the non-flame-retardant solid-color products of its LG Z:IN interior film ‘BENIF’ have become the first in the industry to earn Class 1 of the ‘European Textile Quality Certification.’

The ‘European Textile Quality Certification (OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100)’ evaluates the degree of harmlessness of products that come into contact with the skin, such as clothing, bedding, toys, and interior materials. Class 1 (Baby Class) is a stringent standard granted only to products that infants under three years of age can use with confidence.

In particular, this certification has drawn attention as demand for eco-friendly products has recently grown in the European, North American, and Japanese markets. It is renowned for its demanding testing procedures and criteria, examining more than 200 kinds of harmful substances—such as skin irritants, allergens, and carcinogens—at every stage from textile raw materials through processing to the final product.

BENIF is a surface finishing material with an adhesive treatment on the back of the film, allowing it to be easily applied to a variety of spaces such as doors, shoe cabinets, and kitchen furniture. It offers a wide range of patterns and colors that reflect the latest interior trends, including solid wood, marble, and metal.

The non-flame-retardant solid-color BENIF products became the first in the industry to earn Class 1 by applying an eco-friendly water-based adhesive. Their eco-friendliness was recognized for replacing oil-based solvents harmful to the human body, such as toluene, with water-based ones. In addition, BENIF has previously earned individual Environmental Mark certification for each product by reducing the detected levels of harmful substances such as volatile organic compounds (VOCs), formaldehyde, and heavy metals to below Environmental Mark standards.

With this, LG Hausys has now received Class 1 certification for its LG Z:IN interior film ‘BENIF,’ following its entire lineup of silk wallpapers—including the LG Z:IN wallpapers ‘Diamant,’ ‘Zea Fabric & Fresh,’ and ‘Besti’—and its ‘Zea Maru Real’ flooring.

An LG Hausys official said, “As people spend more time at home, the importance of eco-friendly interior materials is growing,” adding, “LG Hausys will continue to develop products that consumers can use with confidence and lead the eco-friendly building materials market going forward.”
