Upcycled Goods Made from
Construction Site Waste Materials
Samsung C&T Engineering & Construction Group (hereinafter Samsung C&T) announced that its Raemian upcycling goods won a Winner award in the Product category at the world-renowned design competition ‘iF Design Award 2025.’
Upcycling refers to adding new elements to discarded products to reinvent them as entirely different products.
The iF Design Award, launched in 1953 under the auspices of Germany’s International Forum, is the most prestigious award in the field of design and is regarded as one of the world’s three major design awards alongside Germany’s ‘Red Dot Design Award’ and the United States’ ‘IDEA.’ This year, around 10,000 entries were submitted from 66 countries worldwide, and winners were selected through a comprehensive evaluation of design distinctiveness, visual elements, sustainability and more across a total of nine categories including △Product △Interior △Architecture △User Experience (UX). Samsung C&T’s three types of Raemian brand goods are upcycled products created by collecting—rather than discarding—the vertical protective netting temporarily installed at Raemian construction sites to prevent falling objects, and newly crafting it into bags, pouches, card wallets and more.
The products were designed in the green & gray color scheme that symbolizes the Raemian brand, with the value of upcycling added so that customers can experience the brand’s value in their everyday lives.
The entry drew high marks from the judges for its idea and sustainability, earning it a Winner award in the Product category. With this honor, Samsung C&T achieved the feat of winning the ‘iF Design Award’ for four consecutive years since 2022.
