High-quality ‘iLux Multi-Flat’ applied to enhance abstract art
Samhwa Paints Industrial Co., Ltd. is sponsoring ‘Victor Vasarely: The Responsive Eye,’ on view through April 21 at the Hangaram Art Museum of the Seoul Arts Center, located in Seocho-gu, Seoul.
Victor Vasarely was a leading Hungarian artist who founded Op Art, a genre of 20th-century abstract art, and who influenced the Kinetic Art genre.
‘Victor Vasarely: The Responsive Eye’ is a special retrospective held to mark the 33rd anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and Hungary. The exhibition features some 200 major works by Victor Vasarely—including paintings, sculptures, prints, and photographs—from the collections of the Hungarian National Gallery in Budapest and the Vasarely Museum.
To enhance abstract art, in which color is emphasized, Samhwa Paints designed the exhibition space using its high-quality water-based paint ‘iLux Multi-Flat.’ The product’s strengths are its rich colors and excellent quality. ‘iLux Multi-Flat’ is a paint applied over interior walls and wallpaper; it is an eco-friendly paint that is virtually odorless and easy enough for beginners to apply.
Exhibitions at the Seoul Arts Center typically use high-quality paints with excellent color expression. Following the Raoul Dufy retrospective held at the Seoul Arts Center this past September, Samhwa Paints’ ‘iLux’ series was applied to this exhibition as well, earning recognition for its competitive quality.
A Samhwa Paints official said, “This exhibition is a great opportunity for Samhwa Paints to reach consumers in a more familiar way and to communicate with them,” adding, “We plan to continue supporting a variety of exhibitions to provide rich viewing experiences.”
Meanwhile, together with the Heart-Heart Foundation, a social welfare corporation, Samhwa Paints Industrial provided Color Universal Design, paint, and painting for the visually impaired at ‘Pieora Pulkkot’ Social Cooperative, a daytime-activity provider for people with developmental disabilities in Wonju.
Color Universal Design (CUD) is color planning that takes into account people with disabilities or color vision deficiencies so that they can use products, buildings, and services safely and conveniently.
The existing ‘Pieora Pulkkot’ building had been painted a dark gray, making it difficult for the visually impaired to distinguish the doors of the offices and program rooms, and the stairs were painted in a single achromatic color, making it hard to discern their height and width. In response, Samhwa Paints provided Color Universal Design, paint, and painting to reduce the risk of accidents for the visually impaired and to provide a sense of psychological stability, creating a space where the visually impaired can live safely. Not only for the visually impaired but also for the cultural activities of local residents, Samhwa Paints painted a wall of the Pieora Pulkkot auditorium to create a screen for a beam projector.
