'IKEA Gangdong'
Boasts Excellent Accessibility

IKEA Korea will open 'IKEA Gangdong,' Seoul's first IKEA store, in Godeok-dong, Gangdong-gu, Seoul, on April 17.
IKEA Gangdong, the fifth store unveiled by IKEA Korea in the country, breaks away from the 'blue box'—the standalone large-format store that has become an IKEA symbol—and is instead located within an urban mixed-use shopping mall. With a total floor area of 58,711㎡ including parking, it spans the first and second above-ground floors of 'Gangdong I'Park The River' in Godeok Biz Valley, Gangdong-gu, Seoul. Gangdong I'Park The River is a commercial, business, and cultural complex with a total floor area of 300,000㎡, housing a large discount store, a movie theater, food and beverage outlets, and more.
As the first IKEA store located in Seoul, IKEA Gangdong is expected to bring IKEA home furnishings to more people on the strength of its excellent accessibility. Adjacent to Godeok Station and Sangil-dong Station on Subway Line 5 and equipped with outstanding transportation infrastructure including Olympic-daero, Gangbyeonbuk-ro, and the Sudogwon Route 1 Ring Expressway, it can be conveniently visited not only from Gangdong-gu and the rest of Seoul but from across the entire metropolitan area. Once the Line 9 extension project is completed in 2028, easy access from areas such as Gangnam and Yeouido is also anticipated.
Isabel Puig, CEO of IKEA Korea, said, "As Seoul's very first IKEA store and the first store of this format unveiled by IKEA Korea, IKEA Gangdong will offer an inspiring IKEA home furnishing experience close to the city center and serve as the linchpin of our omnichannel strategy spanning online and offline."
Meanwhile, IKEA Korea plans to hold a variety of customer events to celebrate the upcoming opening of IKEA Gangdong. Details will be revealed in stages through IKEA Korea's official online mall and official social media channels.
