Ju Jae-hwan and Ju Ho-min
The Seoul Museum of Art (Director Baek Ji-sook) presents <Homin and Jaehwan> through August 1 on the 2nd and 3rd floors of the SeMA Seosomun Main Building.
<Homin and Jaehwan> is a two-person exhibition by father and son Ju Jae-hwan, a visual artist who has surveyed the major issues of modern Korean history with a witty and incisive eye, and Ju Ho-min, an artist widely known for webtoons that interpret the boundary between life and death based on Korean mythology.
This exhibition focuses on the ‘story,’ which wields such powerful influence in today's transmedia phenomenon, and takes a multifaceted look at how the innate qualities of the ‘storyteller’ shared by these two artists—active in the distinct fields of visual art and webtoons—have evolved across generations and manifested differently according to medium, through the way the two artists correspond with one another.
Furthermore, it seeks to shed light on the unique narrative components and aesthetic value that webtoons possess as powerful source content for transmedia, and to detect the waves of change they may bring to the processes of creation and experience in visual art and other artistic domains.
△Section 1. Putting Stories into Images – Focuses on the narrative implicitness and poetic imagination contained in the works of Ju Jae-hwan, an artist one generation ahead. △Section 2. Here and Now, and the World Beyond – A space where the attitudes and perspectives of the two artists, Ju Jae-hwan and Ju Ho-min, toward the world are fully revealed, examining the similarities and subtle differences in their worldviews through the intersection of each other's works.

Unfolding Stories through Images – Explores the distinctive strengths of Ju Ho-min as a cartoonist and the diverse possibilities that comics can unfold as a unique form of narrative art. △Section 4. Ju Ho-min, the All-Around Storyteller – Introduces Ju Ho-min, who is not confined to being a webtoon artist but works as an all-around storyteller across various domains, including YouTube and Twitch channels.
