Special Exhibition Commemorating 10th Anniversary of Opening
Promoting the Status of Zero-Energy Buildings
Marking the 10th anniversary of its opening, the Seoul Energy Dream Center is holding the ‘Future Eco-Friendly Building Technology Exhibition’ under the title ‘Beyond ZEB 10’ through February 28.
The Seoul Energy Dream Center, an energy-independent public building, was built on a site where the Nanji landfill was reborn as an ecological park. Through passive and active technologies that reduce energy loss, it has cut the energy required for the building by more than 70%, while producing renewable energy and selling the surplus power left over after use.
This exhibition was prepared with the aim of improving the operating technologies of zero-energy buildings. Building energy operation systems on display include: △the building energy management system K-BEMS (2.0) (Korea Electric Power Corporation); △KIE-MECS (KIMAX), an IoT device developed to reduce unnecessary heating and cooling power overconsumption in offices and stores while maintaining indoor comfort (Korea Institute of Energy); △ACS (Air Care System), an IoT-based system that uses AI to compare indoor and outdoor air quality and manage air quality through integrated automation (Air Clean Systems).
In addition, the latest research and products in eco-friendly building technology will be showcased, including: △research achievements on innovative technologies for achieving 20% plus energy through the optimal design of renewable energy production, conversion, and integrated systems (Korea University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation); △Smartbox, capable of cutting electricity bills by 80%, reducing construction costs by 30%, extending hardware lifespan by 30%, and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 40% in a PUE 1.1-class data center (Samsung C&T · Databin); △UHC batteries that deliver a high capacity more than 150% greater than lithium-ion batteries, and UFC batteries offering ultra-fast charging and high fire safety (Euronics).
The Seoul Energy Dream Center expects that exhibiting the operating achievements of its zero-energy public building accumulated over 10 years will help spread domestic zero-energy building operation technologies.
