LX Hausys becomes the first in the flooring industry to be recognized for reducing carbon emissions

Cuts carbon emissions across the entire product manufacturing process by 10% versus previous levels

LX Hausys' 'LX Z:IN Flooring Sorijam' has won the 'Carbon Neutral Winner Award' at the '27th Energy Winner Awards of the Year.'

Launched in 1997, the 'Energy Winner Awards of the Year' is hosted by the Citizens' Alliance for Consumer Protection of Korea (CACPK) and sponsored by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Ministry of Environment. The awards consist of two main categories: the 'Energy Winner Award,' which recognizes technologies and products with outstanding energy-saving effects, and the 'Carbon Neutral Winner Award,' which is given to companies and products with excellent carbon neutrality achievements.

'Sorijam' is a PVC sheet flooring product equipped with a function to reduce lightweight impact noise in everyday life. It received the 'Carbon Neutral Winner Award' this time as the first in Korea's flooring industry, recognized for achievements such as reducing carbon emissions during the manufacturing process. The specific 'Sorijam' flooring items that received the Carbon Neutral Winner Award this time are 'Zia Sorijam 4.5T' and 'Sorijam 4.5T/6.0T,' products supplied not only to the B2C market but also to construction sites.

First, through a life cycle assessment (LCA) covering the entire product manufacturing process, 'Sorijam' reduced carbon emissions by an average of about 10% compared to previous product lines, and it reduced the amount of fuel and energy required for manufacturing through investment in boiler and insulation equipment at the production plant and innovation activities in the manufacturing process.

In addition, it uses a foaming gas that does not deplete the ozone layer as its foaming agent, and it maintains a manufacturing method that considers the environment and resource circulation by reintroducing scrap generated during the production process into the process, or by recycling products that are collected because they could not be used at construction sites.

For reasons such as reducing carbon emissions and decreasing hazardous substances, 'Sorijam' holds a large number of eco-friendly certifications, including 'Low Carbon Product Certification,' 'Environmental Product Declaration (EPD),' and 'Eco-Label,' and it is actively contributing to the spread of the government's green building certification system. In addition, LX Hausys is actively engaging in social contribution by donating 'Sorijam' products through the 'Green Early Childhood Space Transition Support Project,' conducted through public-private cooperation, and Gangwon Province's 'Gangwon Emergency Expectant Mother Safe Stay Support Project.'

Meanwhile, 'Sorijam,' first introduced in Korea in 2013, has significantly enhanced its hygienic quality through antibacterial treatment, securing an antibacterial performance test report showing an approximately 99% reduction in both Staphylococcus aureus and E. coli. By applying a highly elastic cushion layer to the underside of the product, it offers excellent reduction of everyday noise—such as vacuum cleaner noise and the sound of chairs being dragged—along with excellent shock absorption. It also applies big-size designs and synchronized embossing technology that aligns the design pattern with the surface embossing, more naturally reproducing the texture of natural materials such as wood and stone.
