Smart Eco-Factory Development Program
Garden Project (CEO Park Kyung-bok) announced that it has developed the ‘Smart Rainwater Piggy Bank,’ which will be applied in earnest to the ‘2025 Smart Eco-Factory Development Program.’ The scope of rainwater reuse, which had until now been limited to cleaning water and landscaping water, has been linked with the ICT field—the facility segment of the ‘Smart Eco-Factory Development Program’—making it possible to expand its application into the resource-circulation ‘rainwater reuse field’ and beyond.
The ‘Smart Eco-Factory Development Program’ targets domestic manufacturing plants with a high share of pollutant emissions, providing support for facility improvement costs to convert them into eco-friendly factories in areas such as △greenhouse gas reduction △air pollution reduction △water pollution reduction △waste discharge reduction △resource circulation △environmental health. Up to about 80 companies will be selected, with support of up to 1 billion won per company. Drawing on the technical expertise it has built over the past four years of participating in the Smart Eco-Factory Development Program, Garden Project developed the ‘Smart Rainwater Piggy Bank,’ optimized for smart eco-factories. In addition, the company completed performance verification through a pilot application in the 2024 program, and full-scale application will begin with the 2025 program. The ‘Rainwater Reuse System’ consists of four stages, progressing through △Stage 1: Collection △Stage 2: Filtration △Stage 3: Storage △Stage 4: Use. The newly developed ‘Smart Rainwater Piggy Bank’ is a system that applies ICT (information and communications technology) devices optimized for each stage, based on IoT (Internet of Things), enabling integrated remote monitoring from anywhere in the country. Through this, benefits such as reduced airborne fine dust, lower building energy consumption, and reduced water pollution can be expected.
Explaining the background of the technology’s development, Garden Project CEO Park Kyung-bok said, “Reflecting the 2025 Korea consumer trends, we developed the ‘Smart Rainwater Piggy Bank’ based on ‘climate sensitivity’—actively responding to and proactively acting to solve climate issues—as well as ‘face tech’ that utilizes IoT and ICT, and a ‘co-evolution strategy’ that promotes mutual prosperity across fields.”
