Kimchi-making sharing volunteer event with Gangnam Community Welfare Center, which supports vulnerable groups

Some 30 employees personally deliver kimchi to 60 households of elderly people living alone

Stanley Black & Decker Korea (CEO Hong Sung-wan), the world's largest tool company, joined with its head-office employees on November 30 to hold a kimchi-making sharing volunteer event to bring warmth to the homes of elderly people living alone during the winter season.

At the Gangnam Community Welfare Center in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, some 30 Stanley Black & Decker staff, including head-office executives, gathered to make kimjang kimchi. On the day, the participants completed basic training including hygiene education, and made 200 heads' worth of kimchi based on a systematic program divided into a packaging-box assembly team, an ingredient-preparation team, and a kimchi-mixing team. The finished kimjang kimchi, filled with the employees' warm hearts, was delivered directly to 60 households of elderly people living alone.

As a global company, Stanley Black & Decker fulfills its social responsibility and carries out a variety of activities in Korea to support vulnerable groups in the local community. In 2018, it donated handheld vacuum cleaners together with the Gangnam Community Welfare Center, and since 2011 it has actively engaged in various social contribution activities, including house-building volunteer work and charity bazaars organized by Habitat for Humanity Korea.

Hong Sung-wan, CEO of Stanley Black & Decker Korea, said, "We planned this activity of making and sharing kimjang kimchi together with our head-office employees so that our neighbors in need can fill both body and mind during the cold winter," adding, "Going forward, we will continue to grow as a warm company that extends a helping hand, and steadily carry out various volunteer activities that do not forget the values of sharing and mutual prosperity."
