Initiatives to Address the Climate Crisis

Achieves Carbon Neutrality Across All Global Operations

Signify (formerly Philips Lighting), a global lighting company leading the way in connected lighting, has published a Climate Action Report introducing the climate action it is undertaking across its entire value chain, including production, distribution, and consumption.

In 2020, Signify announced ‘Brighter Lives, Better World 2025,’ a five-year plan and a new sustainability program designed to double its positive impact on the environment and society. In the first year of the program, Signify projected that it would meet the Paris Agreement’s 2031 carbon emissions reduction targets at twice the required pace, and in 2021 it generated approximately 64% of its revenue from climate action–related segments.

In addition, Signify already achieved carbon neutrality across all of its operations worldwide in 2020, and it has been applying sustainability policies on the ground, including energy-efficient technologies and transportation as well as optimized logistics planning. Alongside this, it has balanced out its emissions reductions through carbon-neutrality programs such as using 100% renewable energy.

Signify CEO Eric Rondolat emphasized, “As the world warms faster than ever before, calls for action to minimize and prevent the damage humans have inflicted on the planet are spreading widely,” adding, “We will expand our efforts to address the climate crisis not only within our own business but across our entire value chain, and we will actively support all stakeholders—including employees, shareholders, and customers—so that they can play a role in minimizing the impact of climate change.”
