Motions to Select Designer and Redevelopment Project Management Firm Approved

"We Will Accelerate the Project With the Support of Specialized Firms"

The Union Promotion Committee for the Sindaebang Station Area Redevelopment and Maintenance Project (Chairman Han Il-man, hereinafter the "Promotion Committee") held its "2021 General Residents' Meeting" on March 12.

With 266 property owners in attendance, the meeting smoothly processed motions to enact various Seoul Metropolitan Government regulations—an essential requirement for receiving Seoul City loan funds—as well as motions to select the project's designer and redevelopment project management firm, all in the presence of a Seoul City public attorney. Jinyang Engineering Architects was selected as the designer for the Sindaebang Station Area Redevelopment and Maintenance Project, and Mirae Power was selected as the redevelopment project management firm.

Chairman Han Il-man stated, "All of the motions at this meeting complied with Seoul City regulations and were carried out under the supervision of Dongjak-gu Office. Now that specialized firms have been selected for each field, we have laid the cornerstone for realizing the long-held aspirations of the property owners. Going forward, we will pick up the pace in advancing the project with the support of these specialized firms."

Prior to this, on the 8th, the Fair Redevelopment Residents' Group for the Sindaebang Station Area Redevelopment and Maintenance Project (hereinafter "Fair Redevelopment") held a meeting to dismiss the entire Promotion Committee—the chairman and all committee members except for a single member, Member C—passed the dismissal motion, and issued a notice indefinitely postponing the general residents' meeting. On this basis, they claim that this general residents' meeting is invalid.

The Promotion Committee, for its part, states that even though it delivered to Fair Redevelopment the final withdrawal statements of 247 property owners—out of the 582 owners in the Sindaebang Station Area Redevelopment and Maintenance Project—who expressed their opposition to the dismissal meeting, there remain questionable aspects regarding the dismissal meeting. Accordingly, it has filed a petition with the court for the preservation of evidence and an injunction to suspend the effect of the meeting held by Fair Redevelopment.

Kim Hyeong-seon, general manager of the Promotion Committee, expressed his regret, saying, "There is a regulation stating that if there is a dispute over the existence of a promotion committee when applying for Seoul City loan funds, the application is excluded. If Fair Redevelopment's actions are not resolved before the Seoul City loan fund application in April, we will be unable to apply for the funds, and the resulting harm will fall entirely on the property owners."
