Efforts to Create a Safe Working Environment Recognized
Hyundai Elevator has become the first in the industry to obtain the 'Space Safety Certification' from the Korea Safety Certification Institute.
The Space Safety Certification is Korea's only voluntary corporate safety assessment program, administered by the Korea Safety Certification Institute and supervised by the National Fire Agency. It reviews the safety level of a business site from the design and construction stages, and issues a certificate when the site meets or exceeds the accreditation criteria.
Beginning this January, Hyundai Elevator was evaluated on a total of 143 detailed items across seven areas: safety management and building disaster prevention (preparedness); fire safety, hazardous materials safety and facility safety (response); facility performance testing (performance); and new technologies and facility improvements (enhancement). In particular, it recorded consistently high scores across the board, including high marks in the fire and building categories. Since relocating to its Chungju Campus in 2022, Hyundai Elevator has continued to make steady investments in safety, including △building a smart safety system utilizing artificial intelligence (AI), △operating drones for the maintenance of firefighting facilities, △deploying fire suppression blankets to respond to electric-vehicle fires, and △installing additional gas-based fire suppression systems in areas exempt from sprinkler installation under the law.

Meanwhile, Hyundai Elevator is committed to safety management, having obtained ISO 45001 (Occupational Health and Safety Management System)—an international standard for creating a safe working environment by preventing and managing workplace risks—in 2020, and having received the Grand Prize at the fire safety management awards ceremony hosted by the National Fire Agency last month.
