POSCO Steeleon Signs Agreement with Konkuk University College of Art & Design
Reflecting University Students’ Career Development and Creative Ideas in INFINeLI
POSCO Steeleon and Konkuk University are joining forces to develop color-coated steel designs that reflect the latest trends.
POSCO Steeleon announced that on April 27, it held a signing ceremony with Konkuk University’s College of Art & Design at The Sharp Gallery in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, and will embark on the joint design development of its color-coated steel brand ‘INFINeLI.’
Under this agreement, POSCO Steeleon and Konkuk University plan to incorporate university students’ creative ideas to develop new color-coated steel designs for use in home appliances.
The main theme of the agreement is to analyze the C.M.F (Color, Material, Finish) of the global color-coated steel market and apply it to design. C.M.F refers to the design elements consumers consider when purchasing a product—‘Color,’ ‘Material,’ and ‘Finishing.’ Color-coated steel is likewise moving beyond the past perspective that emphasized only color and design, and is entering an era in which high value-added products featuring diverse elements—such as the use of eco-friendly, functional materials and the realization of texture—are drawing attention.
POSCO Steeleon expects this project with Konkuk University to lead not only to practical experience and career development for university students who dream of becoming designers, but also to the production of products that can meet consumers’ diverse requirements from a C.M.F perspective.
Hwang Jin-sook, Dean of Konkuk University’s College of Art & Design, who attended the signing ceremony, expressed her expectations, saying, “I believe this will be a great opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience through collaboration with a company.”
Yoon Yang-soo, President of POSCO Steeleon, also said, “Through this agreement, we hope that POSCO Steeleon can support the cultivation of talent for future generations and lead the design direction of the steel industry,” adding, “We will spare no support to produce excellent results through this project with Konkuk University.”
Meanwhile, since launching the INFINeLI brand in 2021—which emphasizes the infinite potential of color-coated steel—POSCO Steeleon has continued to expand its color-coated steel product lineup, realizing a variety of designs, textures, and functionalities. Established in 1988 in Complex 1 of the Pohang Steel Industrial Complex as a manufacturer of galvanized and aluminized steel sheet with an annual production capacity of 300,000 tons, POSCO Steeleon started out based on Pohang Coated Steel Sheet. It produces coated steel sheet and color-coated steel products, supplying them to the construction materials, automotive, and home appliance markets.
