Power tool market expected to grow to KRW 1.1 trillion in 2024, with companies taking part in various events and exhibitions

The power tool industry is making active moves to expand its points of contact with ordinary consumers through participation in a variety of events and exhibitions. According to the Innopolis Foundation, a quasi-governmental agency, Korea's power tool market is expected to grow at an average annual rate of about 6.5%, from roughly KRW 760 billion in 2019 to around KRW 1.1 trillion in 2024. With a large stock of aging homes generating steady demand for maintenance, repairs and remodeling, the desire for home decoration has grown further since COVID-19. The Construction & Economy Research Institute of Korea (CERIK) also projected the country's interior and remodeling market to reach KRW 37.08 trillion in 2025, up about 22.4% from 2020. Against this backdrop, power tool companies are staging various events and taking part in related exhibitions to expand their market dominance.

The featured products are Bosch's premium BITURBO cordless tools, led by △ the 'GSR 18V-150 C' cordless drill driver kit/bare tool and △ the 'GSB 18V-150 C' cordless impact drill driver kit/bare tool.

Also included are △ the professional-grade 'GSR 18V-110 C' and 'GSR 18V-60 C' cordless drill driver kits/bare tools, △ the 'GSB 18V-110 C' and 'GSB 18V-60 C' cordless impact drill driver kits/bare tools, and △ the 'GWS 18V-7' and 'GWS 18V-10' cordless grinder kits/bare tools — a total of 8 models and 16 products. A kit is a set product that includes the bare tool (the main tool body) along with two 18V batteries and a charger.

Bosch will present a variety of gifts depending on the product purchased during the event period. Customers who purchase the BITURBO 'GSR 18V-150 C' kit or the 'GSB 18V-150 C' kit will receive a GSB 18V-55 Pick & Click cordless impact drill driver that comes with a 100-piece accessory set, while those who purchase a BITURBO bare tool will receive a premium 'ProCORE18V 4.0Ah' battery. In addition, buyers of the 18V cordless (impact) drill driver and grinder will receive a KRW 50,000 fuel gift voucher when purchasing a kit, or a KRW 20,000 fuel gift voucher when purchasing a bare tool.

Furthermore, after completing product registration for a purchase, customers can also enjoy the benefits of 'Pro360' (https://www.bosch-pt.co.kr/kr/ko/pro360/), Bosch's premium warranty service that lets them extend the product's warranty period free of charge for up to three years.

To take part, customers simply purchase an eligible event product within the period, photograph the purchase receipt and the product's serial number, and register the product on the Bosch Power Tools membership site (https://www.bosch-event.co.kr/member/). Participation is limited to one entry per product type, and products purchased directly from overseas, received as prizes, or obtained through trade-in are excluded from the event.

Bosch expects this event to give professionals another opportunity to confirm the excellence of its BITURBO products. BITURBO cordless tools are Bosch's series of high-performance, innovative cordless products that combine the company's high-performance brushless motor with its premium ProCORE18V battery technology to deliver the same power as a corded tool from a single 18V battery.

Meanwhile, since January this year, Bosch has been running its 'Pro' event series every two months and a 'BITURBO Week' event from the 20th to the last day of each month. The Pro event series centers on the BITURBO line and each time selects Bosch products that further showcase the value professionals bring, while BITURBO Week is an event that lets customers purchase the entire BITURBO lineup at economical prices.

AIMSAK to take part in the '2022 Korea International Agricultural Machinery & Materials Fair' in November

AIMSAK Co., Ltd., Korea's only company specializing in cordless tools, will take part in the country's largest agricultural machinery fair, the '2022 Korea International Agricultural Machinery & Materials Fair,' held over four days from November 2 to 5 at EXCO in Daegu.

At this fair, held for the first time in four years, AIMSAK plans to showcase a range of products centered on garden tools that offer workability and convenience for orchards and farms. AIMSAK will introduce its domestically produced 14.4V pruning shears 'BL14P50' — already used by many farms in recognition of its workability, convenience and compatibility — along with its newly launched 36V product lineup. In addition to introducing its existing product lineup, the company will also carry out demonstrations showing how compatibility can be put to use.

AIMSAK launched its 36V product lineup based on its own proprietary technology, in line with the diversification of work sites and users' varied demands and trends. The 36V lineup is built on a 36V dual-volt battery that is compatible with the products of existing AIMSAK 18V users; it delivers 36V 5.0Ah output and runtime for 36V brush cutters and blowers, while providing AIMSAK 18V users with 18V 10.0Ah output and high capacity, improving workability and efficiency.

Building on its garden tools, AIMSAK plans to release 36V trimmers, chainsaws and more going forward, and to continue expanding its 36V lineup.

AIMSAK stated, "Based on our purely domestic proprietary technology, we plan to continue adding new 36V series lineups with new products in 2022 as well," adding, "We will make relentless efforts to pursue a marketing strategy that puts the customer's perspective first and to deliver freely available power anytime, anywhere."

Meanwhile, the '2022 Korea International Agricultural Machinery & Materials Fair' offers a comprehensive look at cutting-edge agricultural machinery leading smart farming as well as newly developed machinery for upland-field crops. A special hall will display advanced agricultural machinery such as self-driving tractors along with upland-farming and female-friendly agricultural machinery, while a Future Agriculture Hall will exhibit smart farm facilities, agricultural robots and more to present the direction of future farming. Category-specific exhibition halls will display a wide range of agricultural machinery and materials, including tillage/leveling machines, harvesting machines, transplanting/planting/seeding machines, cultivation management machines, orchard/livestock/forestry machines, protected-agriculture equipment, and agricultural processing machines and parts.

Black+Decker runs front-door safety-latch support campaign

'Black+Decker,' the leading household tool and lifestyle appliance brand of Stanley Black & Decker Korea (CEO Hong Sung-wan), the world's largest tool company, ran its 'Protect Our Home!' brand campaign through September 22, targeting single-person households or newlyweds who are interested in home decorating and want to further upgrade their home security.

Black+Decker planned this campaign to cement its position as Korea's only home-care tool and lifestyle brand by providing an easy-to-install front-door safety latch together with 'multiEVO,' an all-purpose power tool that can be used for many purposes in everyday life. Through this, the company aims not only to offer positive experiences by letting people try Black+Decker products directly or indirectly, but also to help them build a safe and comfortable lifestyle.

Generous prizes were also prepared so that as many participants as possible could take away a positive impression of the brand. Ten winners selected by drawing received a set consisting of the EVO185H1 — the hammer drill head product of the head-swappable, all-purpose multiEVO power tool — and a front-door safety latch. For those who have no power tool at home and find installation difficult, installation is possible by using the household tool rental service offered by nearby district offices or community service centers.

In addition, a follow-up event inviting winners of this event to post reviews of their safety-latch installation is planned to add to the excitement. Details of this event will be announced later through the official Instagram account and website, and prizes will include a limited quantity of Black+Decker air fryers and the multiEVO (EVO185H1). All participants who write a review that meets the event conditions, such as required hashtags and tagging the official account, will receive a mobile coupon.

Hong Sung-wan, CEO of Stanley Black & Decker Korea, said, "This Black+Decker campaign was planned to introduce an all-purpose power tool that is highly useful in everyday life and to reach consumers as a more familiar home-care tool and lifestyle brand," adding, "We hope that single-person households and newlyweds who are keenly interested in self-directed interior decorating and home care will take this opportunity to look after a safe lifestyle and carry it forward into a positive experience with the brand."
