Signify Korea installs units at key facilities such as COVID-19 testing rooms
Expected to ease anxiety over infection among medical staff and visitors
Signify Korea (formerly Philips Lighting Korea), a global lighting company leading the way in connected lighting, has installed 'Philips UV-C disinfection units' at general hospitals and medical centers including Yongin Severance Hospital, Ewha Womans University Seoul Hospital, and Hongseong Medical Center.
Signify, well known for Philips lighting, draws on more than 35 years of ultraviolet technology to bring to market a wide range of safe yet highly effective disinfection products, from UV-C germicidal lamps to home and commercial disinfection units. The 'Philips UV-C disinfection unit' is currently used in high-traffic facilities such as hospitals, sports stadiums, restaurants, and supermarkets around the world, drawing attention for its effectiveness and safety.
The units installed this time at Yongin Severance Hospital, Ewha Womans University Seoul Hospital, and Hongseong Medical Center are the ceiling-mounted type of the 'Philips UV-C disinfection unit,' a product specialized in effectively disinfecting the upper air layer of indoor spaces. Yongin Severance Hospital installed the unit at the entrance to its negative-pressure ward, Ewha Womans University Seoul Hospital in its cardiovascular and cerebrovascular angiography room, and Hongseong Medical Center in its COVID-19 testing room, so as to ease anxiety over infection among medical staff and visitors.
The ceiling-mounted 'Philips UV-C disinfection unit' has been shown to disinfect various bacteria and viruses, including the COVID-19 virus, by up to 99.99%, and special UV-C design technology has been applied to continuously disinfect indoor air. In particular, for the safety of both medical staff and visitors to the hospital, it is designed to emit UV-C rays only into the upper part of the interior, allowing the space to be used without concern about UV-C exposure.
