Samsung Electronics Introduces ‘Home AI’ at CES 2025

Enhanced connectivity through SmartThings, personalized AI experiences

Under the theme ‘AI for All,’ Samsung Electronics proposed ‘Home AI’ for hyper-personalization at ‘CES 2025.’

Home AI offers solutions that let users experience a more personalized AI reflecting increasingly diverse housing types and lifestyles, powered by Samsung Electronics’ differentiated AI technology and enhanced connectivity through SmartThings. Samsung Electronics set up its exhibition hall at the Las Vegas Convention Center, spanning 3,368㎡ (about 1,019 pyeong)—the largest among participating companies. At the exhibition, visitors could see △a variety of products equipped with the latest AI technology and the SmartThings hub, △a more robust SmartThings ecosystem spanning from lighting and door locks to fitness and health, △personalized Home AI experiences across various situations, and △the evolution of Home AI expanding beyond the home to vehicles, ships, and buildings.

In implementing Home AI, Samsung Electronics prioritizes security above all and applies powerful security technologies. Samsung Knox Matrix is a blockchain-based security technology that strengthens security as more devices are connected. Connected devices mutually monitor each other’s security status, and when a threat from outside is detected, the affected device is disconnected and the user is notified so they can take immediate action.

SmartThings, the core platform that realizes Home AI, showcased features that set it apart from competitors, including △‘Calm Onboarding,’ which automatically connects purchased products to SmartThings, △‘Quick Remote,’ which lets users easily control nearby Samsung products linked to SmartThings from their Samsung smartphone, and △‘Map View,’ which allows users to monitor and manage the devices in their home at a glance. In particular, Map View delivers a more personalized experience through new AI technology. Users can turn Map View into their own customized space by △taking a photo of the furniture and home appliances they use, whereupon generative AI creates a 3D model and places it in Map View, and △generating a skin using an interior image tailored to the user’s taste. At this exhibition, Samsung Electronics introduced five types of Home that reflect the needs of various family members through Home AI. In the ‘Efficient Home,’ Samsung showcased flagship technologies and products that save energy usage and time spent on household chores based on SmartThings and AI appliances. ‘SmartThings Energy’ compares the home’s current energy usage with the previous month or the same month a year earlier.

The ‘Home That Takes Care of Your Health’ looks after the family’s healthy daily routines, such as sleep and exercise, through SmartThings and Samsung Health. When SmartThings Ambient Sensing—based on Spatial AI—is applied, connected devices collect and analyze not only device usage patterns but also people’s movements and surrounding sounds, enabling the delivery of the information or services needed for situations such as exercise or sleep.

The ‘Home That Can Care for Loved Ones’ demonstrated advanced care services for parents, young children, pets, and more. Using occupancy sensors linked to SmartThings, it becomes possible to detect whether a parent has fallen and send an alert to a family member’s smartphone, TV, or Family Hub refrigerator so they can respond quickly to a dangerous situation.

In the ‘Home That Boosts Productivity,’ visitors could experience how the Galaxy Book5 Pro and Book5 360 can enhance productivity in various situations such as work and study. The Galaxy Book5’s ‘AI Select’ feature lets users designate a desired area on any screen for a quick search. It supports searching not only text but also text within images and QR codes, making it easy to obtain the information you need.

The ‘Home That Delivers New Experiences’ proposed a way to view works by world-renowned artists on a TV at home. Starting with ‘The Frame’ in 2017, Samsung TVs have been providing a rich array of artistic experiences to Samsung Art Store users around the world.
