Hyundai L&C signs business agreement with the Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute
Participating for the 9th consecutive year since 2013, providing eco-friendly flooring and wallpaper
Hyundai L&C, a comprehensive building-materials company affiliated with Hyundai Department Store Group, announced that it has signed a business agreement with the Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute for the 'Environmental Disease Prevention Project' for vulnerable groups.
The 'Environmental Disease Prevention Project' is an environmental welfare service program, run by the Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute since 2009, in which environmental health specialists personally visit approximately 1,700 households among vulnerable groups—such as low-income families, people with disabilities, and elderly people living alone—to assess indoor air quality.
Hyundai L&C has continuously taken part in the 'Environmental Disease Prevention Project' for nine years since 2013, and this year it is donating eco-friendly flooring products 'Myeongga' and 'Chamdaum,' as well as 'Cutie' wallpaper. The donation amounts to approximately 15,000㎥ (4,500 pyeong) of flooring and 36,000㎥ (10,500 pyeong) of wallpaper, with the aim of improving the living environments of socially vulnerable groups and helping to prevent environmental diseases.
'Myeongga,' one of the products Hyundai L&C is donating this time, is an eco-friendly flooring material that is the first in Korea to use pure raw materials and contains no phthalate-based plasticizers or heavy metals. With its excellent antibacterial and anti-mold performance, it is known as a safe flooring material free from allergy concerns. 'Chamdaum' is likewise an eco-friendly flooring material that has earned the Ministry of Environment's Eco-Label certification and the Korea Atopy Association's Atopy Safe Mark. The eco-friendly wallpaper 'Cutie' is made from layered paper, making it free of harmful substances, and its good breathability allows it to regulate humidity.
Hong Soon-yoo, Executive Vice President and Head of Hyundai L&C's Total Interior Business Division, said, "We hope this business agreement will contribute to improving the environment and protecting the health of vulnerable groups," adding, "We will continue to introduce environmentally friendly products that customers can use with peace of mind."
