Notice of Important Improvement Measures for the ‘Sliding Compound Miter Saw KS 88 and KS 120’
Applicable to products manufactured and sold between 2007 and February 2010
Festool is currently issuing an important safety notice, worldwide, regarding the Festool Sliding Compound Miter Saw KS 88 and KS 120 models manufactured and sold between 2007 and February 2010.
With respect to the products manufactured during the notified period, Festool has discovered that, due to an issue with the resistor and resistive elements of the electronic control unit installed in the affected products, preliminary damage may occur in the event of extreme voltage fluctuations. Through product monitoring and quality evaluation, the company is working to precisely identify which products may be affected.
In a small number of cases among the Sliding Compound Miter Saw KS 88 or KS 120 models manufactured and sold during that period, the power control unit may heat up under peak voltage conditions and, in extreme cases, smoke may be emitted from the housing section made of flame-retardant plastic material. Consumers therefore need to check whether the product they purchased is subject to the recall.
Overheating of products manufactured during that period occurs only when the affected product is connected to a power supply. Although no accidents have been reported to date, Festool is carrying out voluntary safety measures, placing the highest priority on product safety and customer safety.
As a preventive consumer protection measure, the company is requesting that consumers check whether their product is subject to the recall. By entering the part number (T number) and serial number (S number) on the website (www.festool.com/retrofit), customers can confirm whether their product is subject to the recall, and customers who own a product subject to the recall must notify Festool immediately. For products subject to the technical improvement measures, replacement of the electronic control unit and a safety inspection will be provided free of charge, and improvement measures for affected products sold domestically are being carried out by Festool Korea.
The improvement measure service provided through this recall notice will continue on an ongoing basis with no specific end date.
