'H-UV Sterilization System Huven EBSN' applied to 1,696 households, its technology recognized with a range of awards
As lifestyles change to suit the post-COVID era, proper ventilation appliances are transforming consumer living trends. Himpel Co., Ltd. (CEO Kim Jung-hwan), a company specializing in indoor air quality, has unveiled its new product, the 'H-UV Sterilization System Huven EBSN,' and is winning consumers' hearts with a ventilation system that combines air purification and virus sterilization technology.
As the fallout from COVID-19 has narrowed people's range of activity and increased the time spent at home—the so-called 'staying-at-home life'—consumers are looking not only for products that eliminate indoor fine dust but also for products that ensure a safe living environment by simultaneously removing carbon dioxide, viruses, and more.
Interest in proper ventilation appliances is also running high among construction firms that supply apartment housing. In keeping with the post-COVID era, construction companies are introducing specialized complexes capable of maintaining comfortable air quality 24 hours a day. This is a differentiating technology that reflects the interest in ventilation appliances and changing lifestyle trends. According to a Himpel official, the newly introduced 'H-UV Sterilization System Huven EBSN' product was applied for the first time to all 1,696 households of the 'Ssangyong The Platinum Premier' in Gongdo, Anseong, which opened on November 18, capturing consumers' hearts as a proper ventilation system.
The 'H-UV Sterilization System Huven' is a product in which Himpel—a ventilation appliance company with 30 years of history—has added a sterilization function to its existing ventilation air purifier by applying High Power UV LEDs, which use a photocatalytic sterilization method, and titanium dioxide (TiO2)-coated ceramics to remove harmful substances.
Himpel's ventilation air purifier expels polluted indoor air to the outside and draws only clean air indoors by filtering outdoor air through a filter. Beyond its air purifier function, it also discharges pollutants such as carbon dioxide and radon, making it effective at removing contaminants. The newly developed 'H-UV Sterilization System Huven' is differentiated from existing products by adding not only ventilation and air cleaning but also sterilizing and disinfecting effects, thanks to a HEPA filter capable of removing 99.95% of fine dust and a UV LED module that is harmless to the human body.
Photocatalytic sterilization technology generates OH- molecules through the action of High Power UV LEDs and titanium dioxide (photocatalyst) to remove harmful substances. Compared to ionization devices or plasma technology, it is a safer and more effective principle because it produces no ozone, which is harmful to the human body. In addition, tests by an accredited testing institution found that the UV LEDs sterilize with an airborne virus reduction rate of 95.6% and an airborne bacteria reduction rate of 99%, while consuming less power and being less environmentally harmful than conventional UV lamp types.
In October, Huven received the grand prize in the ventilation air purifier category at the 'Best Brand Chosen by Consumers 2020,' hosted by the Korea Consumer Evaluation Committee, and was recognized as a ventilation appliance suited to the post-COVID era. By using eco-friendly material (EPP), it improved the product's installation effectiveness and management efficiency, and it is also a product that adds air-purifying effects throughout the home with a single ventilation system.
Selected as a 2020 Quality Competitiveness Excellent Company; awarded the 'Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Commendation' at the 2020 Korea Green Management Awards
Himpel, a company dedicated to proper ventilation appliances, was selected as a 'Quality Competitiveness Excellent Company' hosted by the Korean Standards Association on November 20. The Quality Competitiveness Excellent Company designation is a system in which the Korean Agency for Technology and Standards under the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy identifies companies that have achieved outstanding results in quality improvement, customer satisfaction, and more—with the aim of enhancing corporate quality competitiveness—and selects them based on a quality competitiveness evaluation system.
In particular, Himpel received excellent scores in the product development, technological capability, and quality system evaluation categories. Himpel has steadily worked to improve quality over the years. It has introduced an integrated management system to increase the accuracy of product production and management, and, to achieve high customer satisfaction, it listens to the voice of customers through its website and online shopping mall and improves related matters. It also conducts quality tests regularly in its effort to make high-quality products, and it stated that it is currently researching the introduction of a management system that can further improve quality, productivity, customer satisfaction, and more.
Himpel CEO Kim Jung-hwan said, "Based on our corporate mission of 'contributing to human health through air and energy technology,' Himpel's goal is to make proper ventilation a part of everyday living culture by creating products that contribute to environmental protection. As a leading company in the domestic and international ventilation industry, we will contribute to solving energy problems and reinvent ourselves as a company loved by customers and recognized around the world," adding, "In that sense, I am grateful for this award, and we will remain a company that consistently satisfies customers with outstanding quality."
In addition, Himpel received the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Commendation at the '2020 Korea Green Management Awards,' co-hosted by the Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy. The Green Management Awards were established to foster the green industry and spread a green management atmosphere throughout the industrial sector. As an event that identifies and honors organizations and individuals who have contributed to excellent green management and the environmental industry to enhance the competitiveness of domestic industry, it is a representative government award in the environmental field.
To put its corporate motto—'We contribute to human health through air and energy technology'—into practice, Himpel built Korea's first zero-energy factory and participated in the project for the Nowon EZ House, an energy-independent home that is a future-oriented urban residence. By developing eco-friendly ventilation air purifiers, it is leading the way in energy savings and air quality improvement, and by using the eco-friendly material EPP (expanded polypropylene), it is also striving to protect the environment. In addition, its heat recovery ventilation technology has been recognized for its eco-friendliness, economy, and innovation, earning it a Green Technology Certified product.
Meanwhile, Himpel plans to launch 'Zerok P,' a bathroom ventilation appliance with 10-level control, in the second half of the year. 'Zerok P' achieved the feat of winning an award at the '2020 Good Design Awards.' This is its second award, following the Good Design win for the bathroom multi-ventilation appliance 'Hugente' in 2018. 'Zerok P' offers a simple, modern form and intuitive usability, making it a product outstanding in both aesthetics and practicality. Using a wireless remote control to adjust the fan's airflow across 1–10 levels, it is a ventilation fan that provides solutions tailored to consumers' needs and situations—from low-noise ventilation for a quiet bathroom space to turbo ventilation that quickly removes moisture and odors. In addition, by using a high-airtightness motor damper, it prevents outside noise and backflow, creating an even more comfortable bathroom space.
