Korea Virtual Reality (CEO Jang Ho-hyun), a company specializing in the development of virtual reality (VR) solutions, announced that it has signed a contract with Incheon International Airport Corporation (IIAC) for the ‘Incheon Airport Power Facility VR Training Simulator’ development project.

Korea Virtual Reality is a specialized virtual reality company that provides VR solutions tailored to a wide range of industries based on its outstanding virtual reality technology. It has developed and supplied numerous effective VR training simulators for industrial fields that are difficult to access on site and involve many hazards, overcoming constraints of time and space.

This ‘Incheon Airport Power Facility VR Training Simulator’ development project involves building an information database on Incheon Airport’s power equipment and facilities—the largest of their kind in Korea—and creating a virtual reality practice environment that operates on the same logic as the actual electrical equipment.

The project produces 3D databases of various electrical facilities such as GIS (Gas Insulated Switchgear), power receiving and distribution equipment, and protective relays, allowing users to examine internal structures within a virtual space identical to the real environment and to assemble, diagnose, and inspect the equipment directly. In addition, the plan is to construct diverse situational scenarios such as equipment failures, providing the functionality of an effective VR hands-on training simulator that utilizes an HMD (Head Mounted Display) and motion-recognition sensors.

The project, which will be carried out over a period of 10 months, is expected to make active use of the diverse implementation experience and technology development know-how that Korea Virtual Reality has accumulated over many years. A Korea Virtual Reality representative said, “Verified specialists with experience in numerous VR solution projects will take part in this development project,” adding, “Based on the know-how we have accumulated over 22 years in the field of virtual reality, we will build a system optimized for the industry and, furthermore, secure the foundation for a future-oriented virtual reality education platform.”
