Declares its 2030 future vision as the Chungju era begins

Relocation of headquarters and plant opens the smart campus era

Hyundai Elevator has declared its 2030 future vision to coincide with the opening of its new Chungju era.

On July 13, Hyundai Elevator held the "2022 Ceremony Marking the Relocation to Hyundai Elevator's Chungju Campus and the Declaration of Its Future Vision."

At the event, Hyundai Elevator CEO Cho Jae-cheon proclaimed the company's 2030 future vision, "Mobility To Possibility." It embodies the company's commitment to finding "new possibilities" by incorporating Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies—such as artificial intelligence (AI), open APIs, and the Internet of Things (IoT)—into elevators, which have long been regarded as a simple means of transportation.

To this end, the company has selected five strategic tasks: △enhancing customer value through digital transformation, △leading the market with innovative products, △aggressively expanding overseas business, △broadening the service business portfolio, and △entering the new indoor mobility business. Building on these strategies, Hyundai Elevator has set a "Triple 5" goal for 2030: △"KRW 5 trillion in sales," △"a 50% share of overseas business," and △"Global Top 5" status.

This marks the first relocation of Hyundai Elevator's headquarters and plant since its founding in 1984. The Chungju smart campus, which will serve as a springboard for a new leap forward, is a complex facility spanning a 172,759㎡ site that includes the headquarters, a smart factory with an integrated production, packaging, and shipping system, and various welfare facilities and dormitories for employees.

In particular, the smart factory, R&D center, and logistics center have adopted Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies such as the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), big data, and AI, raising the automation rate to 78%. In addition, the company expects improved cost competitiveness through a 25% increase in annual production capacity (25,000 units) and a 38% increase in per-capita productivity (from 4.8 to 6.6 units) compared with the existing plant. Hyundai Elevator plans to further expand production capacity to an annual scale of 35,000 units by 2028.

Hyundai Elevator's smart campus has also built an eco-friendly solar power facility with an annual capacity of 6 MW (megawatts), applying a third-party PPA scheme for the first time in Korea. Converted to a four-person household basis, this corresponds to one year of use for 2,062 households, with an effect equivalent to planting 680,000 30-year-old pine trees. As a result, the company has taken a step closer to achieving RE100, an initiative in which global companies are participating.
