KCC Glass signs business agreement with entob to drive management improvement activities
ESG management assessment, education and improvement support for second-tier suppliers
KCC Glass (Chairman Chung Mong-ik) announced that it has signed the ‘Good Friend HomeCC’ business agreement with ‘entob,’ an affiliate of the POSCO Group, to build a sustainable supply chain, and that it will begin ESG management improvement activities for its second-tier suppliers (small and medium-sized partner companies).
This business agreement is intended to assess the ESG management status of second-tier suppliers that deliver to KCC Glass and to support education and improvement activities, thereby advancing the level of supply chain management to meet KCC Glass’s ESG management standards. It is part of the company’s ESG management activities aimed at putting into practice KCC Glass’s ESG management philosophy of being ‘a company that works with the environment, a company that respects people, and a trusted company.’
Through entob, a company specializing in MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Operation), KCC Glass purchases from its second-tier suppliers the items required to operate ‘HomeCC Interior,’ its specialized interior brand, including △equipment parts △electrical materials △tools and welding supplies △consumable chemical products.
Under this business agreement, KCC Glass and entob will carry out △the development of ESG assessment indicators △customized ESG education △ESG consulting △ESG management improvement support for second-tier suppliers by the end of this year.
In addition, KCC Glass plans to continue its efforts to build a sustainable supply chain by further expanding the scope of support and diversifying its support programs going forward.
A KCC Glass official said, “Putting ESG management into practice requires not only our own efforts but also the participation and efforts of the various partner companies within the supply chain,” adding, “Going forward, we will continue to encourage partner companies to join in ESG management through a variety of support measures, while working together to help capable partner companies establish a foundation for sustainable growth.”
Meanwhile, KCC Glass is committed to company-wide ESG management along with a variety of social contribution activities. Recently, the company joined the ‘UN Global Compact (UNGC)’ and published its first ‘ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) Report,’ actively strengthening ESG-based corporate social responsibility management and transparent communication with stakeholders. This past April, it earned the ‘Gold Medal’ rating—placing it in the top 5%—in the 2022 sustainability assessment by EcoVadis, a global ESG rating agency.
