Industry-first gathering brings together key domestic construction, architecture, and association officials in the ventilation sector
Creating a forum for healthy architecture through proper ventilation
Himpel (CEO Kim Jung-hwan), a company specializing in ventilation home appliances, announced that it held an exchange event under the theme 'Building Healthy Architecture, Together,' examining the technology trends and future direction of ventilation systems, which have been drawing attention in the post-COVID architecture industry.
This exchange event, hosted by Himpel, was attended by some 150 people from 12 major domestic institutions, associations, and academic societies, including the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the Korea Mechanical Construction Contractors Association, the Society of Air-conditioning and Refrigerating Engineers of Korea, the Korean Institute of Registered Architects, the Korea Mechanical Construction Contractors Association, the Korea Passive Building Association, and the Korea Interior Business Managers Association. The event provided a venue to review trends in architectural design, which are changing in order to improve indoor air quality and minimize unnecessary energy consumption in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, and to discuss the direction for the development of ventilation systems in the architecture industry.
In particular, this exchange event carries great significance as the first event in the ventilation industry to bring together officials from major domestic construction, architecture, and interior associations in one place.
The exchange event began with an opening address by Himpel CEO Kim Jung-hwan, followed by lectures from three industry experts, an introduction to Himpel's 2022 new ventilation appliance products, and a tour of the Himpel showroom.
In the lectures, architect Choi Jung-man presented on 'Passive House Construction for Achieving Zero Energy,' Professor Song Doo-sam of Sungkyunkwan University presented on 'Ventilation Strategies for Disease Prevention in the COVID-19 Era,' and Ahn Jang-sung, Managing Director of the Korea Mechanical Construction Contractors Association, presented on 'Related Regulations Following the Strengthening of Ventilation System Standards.'
Through this event, Himpel unveiled its 2022 new ventilation appliance products, including the stand-type ventilation system Huven S Plus, the bathroom ventilation appliance Hygente 3, and the low-noise kitchen hood Hureo, and took time to tour the Himpel showroom together with event participants.
Himpel CEO Kim Jung-hwan said, "I am pleased to be able to provide a forum for exchange where various ventilation industry officials can gather in one place and share industry trends and know-how," adding, "I hope this event serves as an opportunity for Himpel's ventilation technology to become widely known."
Meanwhile, in 2020 the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport expanded the mandatory installation of ventilation systems—previously required for apartment complexes and mixed-use residential buildings of 100 or more households—to those of 30 or more households. In addition, under the 'Indoor Air Quality Control Act,' it made ventilation system installation mandatory for multi-use facilities such as private elderly care facilities (1,000㎡ or larger), children's play facilities (430㎡ or larger), and movie theaters (under 300㎡).
