KCC Glass recently launched 'MVR170,' a non-tempered double Low-E glass with improved insulation performance.
The double Low-E glass 'MVR170' is notable for securing the excellent insulation performance unique to double Low-E glass without requiring a tempering process through heat treatment. In particular, whereas the existing product 'MVR177' had a thermal transmittance of 1.22 W/㎡K, the newly launched MVR170 has an improved thermal transmittance of 1.15 W/㎡K. A lower thermal transmittance value means reduced energy loss through the glass.
Low-E glass is a product that enhances insulation performance by coating the glass surface with a silver metal layer. When the silver metal layer is coated once, it is called single Low-E glass; when coated twice, it is called double Low-E glass. Double Low-E glass offers better insulation performance than single Low-E glass, but due to its relatively high price, it has mainly been applied to large-scale commercial buildings rather than residential facilities. Against this backdrop, the non-tempered double Low-E glass for residential use developed by KCC Glass is creating a new trend in the construction market. It was developed to maintain excellent insulation performance while eliminating the heat-treatment tempering process that was essential to achieving the insulation performance of conventional standard double Low-E glass. Because it does not undergo an additional tempering process, it can offer that much greater price competitiveness. KCC Glass was the first in Korea to develop non-tempered double Low-E glass, having launched 'MVR177' back in 2018.
KCC Glass's non-tempered double Low-E glass for residential use offers superior insulation and solar heat blocking effects compared to the single Low-E glass products that have been mainly applied to residential use. It is effective in reducing cooling and heating energy according to the season, and because it has higher transmittance than double Low-E products applied to typical commercial buildings, it can secure outstanding visibility, so its strength is that it can maintain a brighter indoor environment.
KCC Glass's non-tempered double Low-E glass 'MVR177,' launched in 2018, has already been applied to more than 10,000 households across 8 sites, including Godeok Complex 3 Arteon. In addition, the newly launched 'MVR170' is scheduled to be applied to about 17,000 households across 5 sites, including Hillstate Prugio Suwon, and is being actively proposed as a household-specialized product in the bidding competitions for major redevelopment projects of construction companies. 02-3480-5000
