KCC (CEO Chung Mong-jin) has launched 'Supuro Neosil One Coat,' an eco-friendly water-based paint that can complete the painting of a building's exterior walls with just a single coat.

The newly launched 'Supuro Neosil One Coat' is a water-based paint whose main ingredient is a silicone-modified acrylic emulsion resin. It is an exterior paint applied to concrete, cement mortar, and similar surfaces, and is used mainly for painting building exterior walls. 'Supuro Neosil One Coat' offers excellent hiding power, preventing the base color of the wall from showing through, so high-quality work is possible with just a single coat. Compared to conventional paint products that generally require two or more coats, it delivers the benefit of reducing both painting time and construction costs.

In particular, with the relevant law revised earlier this year to require painting apartment exterior walls with a brush or roller instead of the spray method, the product is expected to draw attention in the new apartment construction and repainting markets. Although the roller method takes more time than the conventional spray method and can lead to higher construction costs, using a paint with strong coating efficiency can help reduce that cost burden.

'Supuro Neosil One Coat' offers not only high hiding power but also weather resistance. Its silicone content gives it excellent weather resistance, and it meets the KS standard KSM6010, Type 1, Grade 2. Weather resistance refers to the property of withstanding natural elements outdoors—such as sunlight, rain and wind, dew, frost, and dryness and moisture—without changes in color, gloss, and the like. In addition, 'Supuro Neosil One Coat' has obtained the Ministry of Environment's official Eco-Label (Environmental Labeling Certification). It uses none of the four major hazardous heavy metals—hexavalent chromium compounds, lead, cadmium, and mercury—and its low-VOC (Low Volatile Organic Compound) design results in less odor. The product comes in a standard 16-liter size and is also sold in a small 3-liter size.

A KCC official said, "Supuro Neosil One Coat is an eco-friendly paint that responds to the changing painting environment, enabling a high-quality finish with just a single coat thanks to its excellent hiding power," adding, "We will continue to develop products that reflect the diverse needs of consumers."

Meanwhile, in July 2019, the Ministry of Environment revised and promulgated the Enforcement Decree and Enforcement Rules of the Clean Air Conservation Act to strengthen the management of workplaces generating scattering (fugitive) dust, a cause of fine dust. Accordingly, building exterior painting work carried out at apartment complexes that establish long-term repair plans was added as a fugitive-dust-emitting operation, and the applicable painting method was restricted to the roller method. The revised regulations on such painting work took effect on January 1, 2021, after a grace period, in acceptance of the industry's argument that it was difficult to cope with the cost increase due to insufficient long-term repair reserves.
