Kiturami has unveiled its new 2023 'Carbon Mat Ondol.' The new model arrives one year after the product's initial launch last September.

Kiturami's 2023 'Carbon Mat Ondol' is the industry's first to feature a detachable smart remote control that separates from the main controller. Users can operate all of the carbon mat's functions with the remote from up to 7m away. Equipped with an organic light-emitting diode (OLED) touch panel, the smart remote supports Korean-language text and voice guidance, allowing even older users to intuitively understand its functions. In addition, the remote charges when connected to the main unit, eliminating the need for separate batteries, and a C-type charging port on its side allows it to be charged without docking to the main unit, providing up to one week of use on a single charge. Furthermore, touching the mood lighting on the lower part of the main unit triggers an alarm, making it easy to locate the remote.

A Kiturami official explained, "Because of effects such as electromagnetic waves and magnetic fields, it is best to keep the controller as far from the mat as possible, but this created inconveniences—such as having to get out of bed to operate it. We focused on developing a controller that addresses these inconveniences while enabling intuitive use, thereby improving customer convenience."

Unlike conventional heating mat controllers, which are horizontal, the new product's controller is vertical. The company explained that it considered a form that lets users easily find the controller even in a sleep environment and that allows the remote's sensor to operate most smoothly. It was also designed to serve as a decorative object in the bedroom space.

In addition, the new 'Carbon Mat Ondol' has improved mat materials by blending Aero Silver fabric with the Tencel fabric from Austria's Lenzing—known for its softness and breathability. While maintaining a soft feel and moisture absorption, it also enhances antibacterial effects, and the mat's surface pattern has been finely divided to strengthen the cushioning.

Kiturami plans not only to make the 'Carbon Mat' a new growth engine for the company but also to lead a generational shift in the heating mat market.

Han Yong-gu, head of Kiturami's Product Development Team, said, "Our goal is to apply 50 years of heating technology know-how to the carbon mat to lead the market and change trends," adding, "By incorporating various sleep-tech technologies, we will lead the heating mat market." 1588-9000
