Nest, a company that has continuously driven innovation in the building-materials market, has launched a new product, ‘Mineral Maru,’ incorporating patent-pending technology.

Nest announced that it has developed and launched ‘Mineral Maru,’ which features a natural mineral core, breaking the preconception that flooring must be made of wood and overcoming the shortcomings of the plywood flooring that has long dominated the market. According to Nest, ‘Mineral Maru’ addresses the biggest weaknesses of the commonly used laminate flooring—poor resistance to denting and scratching, as well as shrinkage and expansion. The company explains that, with an AC4-grade ultra-high-strength surface and durability, it is free from scratches, dents, and material deformation. In addition, unlike conventional plywood flooring, it offers superior fire resistance, waterproofing, insect resistance, and thermal conductivity, helping to create a warm indoor environment in winter. Its fire resistance is Class A, delivering performance that exceeds domestic flame-retardant certification standards.

Furthermore, Nest aimed to use no PVC whatsoever during the development stage, and for the film it used wood-pulp film rather than the commonly used PVC or PET film. In particular, no adhesive is used at all in the manufacturing process, dramatically reducing the emission of harmful substances. It is also noteworthy that the product can emit far-infrared rays and negative ions—made possible because the main core of ‘Mineral Maru’ is natural mineral material. In addition, Nest’s ‘Mineral Maru’ uses an adhesive installation technique to solve the flatness issue that had been the only drawback of stone flooring.

A Nest official said, “‘Mineral Maru,’ which can be installed using the same adhesive installation technique as laminate flooring, is emerging as a new alternative for consumers who have been looking for flooring more durable than laminate.”
