Dongwha Enterprise (CEO Kim Hong-jin) has launched a new wall-material product, ‘SafeWall.’
‘SafeWall’ is a semi-non-combustible wall material with outstanding fire safety. It does not ignite easily, thereby preventing the spread of fire, and it releases very few harmful substances when a fire occurs. It is well suited to various commercial spaces—such as restaurants, entertainment bars, and postpartum care centers—that are required by the Multi-use Establishments Act to use semi-non-combustible materials or better.
The new ‘SafeWall’ product is manufactured with core materials that have obtained semi-non-combustible certification from the Korea Conformity Laboratories (KCL). In addition to their semi-non-combustible performance, these core materials are also eco-friendly and offer excellent durability and water resistance. Furthermore, as Super E0-grade eco-friendly materials, they release almost no harmful substances such as formaldehyde, toluene, and TVOCs. Their high density makes them resistant to dents and scratches, and they undergo very little deformation from moisture, making them easy to maintain. They also feature an anti-mold function that suppresses the growth of indoor mold during the humid rainy season and in winter, when temperature differences are severe.
‘SafeWall’ comes in three types: the ‘SafeWall Standard,’ the ‘SafeWall High-Glossy’ featuring a high-gloss surface, and the ‘SafeWall High-B’ with an added sound-absorption function. The perforated ‘SafeWall High-B’ delivers sound-absorption performance that absorbs more than 50% of the sound generated indoors, effectively reducing noise. The new ‘SafeWall’ product is available in two sizes: 590 (width) × 1,200 (height) × 7 (thickness) mm, and 380 (width) × 790 (height) × 7.5 (thickness) mm. It also comes in a total of 10 diverse patterns—including luxurious stone patterns, reassuring wood patterns, and clean solid patterns—so that a mood suited to the characteristics of a space can be easily created.
Lee Gil-yong, executive director of Dongwha Enterprise’s Building Materials Business Division, said, “SafeWall is a wall material developed to prevent the spread of fire while also considering durability and design, in line with the strengthening of fire-safety regulations for interior structures,” adding, “We will expand the market centering on commercial spaces such as multi-use establishments where the use of semi-non-combustible materials is mandatory, and actively contribute to enhancing the fire safety of buildings.”
More detailed information about the new ‘SafeWall’ product can be found on the Dongwha Natural Flooring website (www.greendongwha.com).
In addition, Dongwha Enterprise’s flagship wall material ‘DesignWall’ is a new-concept wood wall covering that applies a special coating to high-density fiberboard (HDF) to increase its strength and adds a sense of design with luxurious decorative paper. ‘DesignWall’ uses E0-grade Dongwha Eco Board, which has a formaldehyde emission of 0.5 mg/L or less, and is assembled using a tongue-and-groove installation method that requires no adhesive, earning recognition as an eco-friendly product. In particular, ‘DesignWall Grande,’ which is three times larger than existing products and can make a space look wide and open, is receiving a favorable response from consumers by presenting designs that faithfully capture the textures of terrazzo and marble in line with recent trends. ‘DesignWall Grande’ is composed of materials such as terrazzo and marble, and its visual effect of making a space appear more spacious makes it suitable for commercial spaces as well as residential ones. It is also a product that has obtained a flame-retardant technology patent, making it safe against fire.
Meanwhile, Dongwha Enterprise, founded in 1948, is a company leading the domestic board market with products such as medium-density fiberboard (MDF) and particle board (PB). It entered the building-materials business by establishing Korea’s first laminate flooring factory, producing high-value-added products and achieving vertical integration of its business. Since then, it has steadily developed its capabilities in the chemical market—covering surface materials, fine chemicals, and electrolytes—strengthening its position as a specialized chemical company. 1899-2837
