Hyundai AutoEver announced that it has launched the ‘Living & Life Smart Home Platform,’ which combines artificial intelligence (AI) video and voice recognition and Internet of Things (IoT) technology with a digital key that can control the access rights of home and vehicle owners.

With this platform technology, residents can open their front door using a smartphone or facial recognition, and can also grant temporary access rights to friends and acquaintances. In addition, it supports ‘Welcome Mode,’ a personalization feature that enables various settings such as opening the curtains and turning on the TV to switch channels when entering the home. Users can turn lights on and off by voice, control air purifiers and robot vacuums, and use the ‘AI Mirror’ feature to check weather information, the time, and schedule details, as well as receive recommendations for outfits suited to the weather. The ‘Car-to-Home’ feature can also be used to start the vehicle, set the in-vehicle temperature, and call the elevator taking into account the time it takes to reach the parking lot.

The home appliance control and Car-to-Home features that use this platform are smart home services based on IoT technology. When controlling home appliances indoors, users can also use the ‘Voice Home’ feature provided through an AI speaker and a device equipped with a voice conversation platform, instead of the smart home mobile app. Voice Home is linked with telecom carriers, allowing the TV to be controlled without using a commercial AI speaker. The AI Mirror is implemented with video and voice recognition AI, ‘speaker recognition’ that distinguishes people by voice, and IoT sensors. The feature that lets residents open the front door with a smartphone and grant temporary access rights to acquaintances is a ‘Digital Key’ service that strengthens access authentication by applying international standard security specifications.

Hyundai AutoEver stated, “We are envisioning a direction in which the digital keys of cars and apartments are integrated, along with a plan to include online-offline integrated subscription services related to daily life—such as car washing, house cleaning, and home repairs—within the Hi-oT app,” adding, “This platform is currently applied to the Hillstate brand and will be expanded to various apartment brands going forward.”

Meanwhile, Hi-oT is a smart home system that Hyundai E&C developed in-house in 2016, and it was further advanced by integrating IoT-based home appliance control features into the platform built together with Hyundai AutoEver in 2018. 02-6296-6000
