Musco Korea, a global leader in lighting solutions for sports stadiums, public infrastructure, and intersections, has installed its patented ‘Total Light Control–TLC for LED™’ lighting system at major intersections across the country, lowering the traffic accident rate. According to the Traffic Accident Analysis System of the Korea Road Traffic Authority, areas where Musco’s dedicated intersection lighting solution was applied saw a significant drop in traffic accident rates. At four sites, including the Centum Shinsegae intersection in Busan, the traffic accident rate fell 50% year-on-year after one year, while the Beomeo intersection in Daegu likewise dropped by more than 70% over the same period. Building on these verified results, the company recently installed the system at seven intersections in Yangcheon-gu, Seoul, and expects positive outcomes there as well.
Musco Korea’s ‘Total Light Control – TLC for LED™,’ designed to prevent intersection accidents, is an innovative LED lighting solution that not only cuts energy consumption but also provides pedestrians and drivers with a bright, clear field of vision and creates a glare-free driving environment. In particular, by fine-tuning the illuminated areas inside and outside the intersection down to precise increments, it delivers optimal brightness only where needed and minimizes stray light and glare, easing concerns about light pollution for nearby homes and shops. Installation time and cost are also economical. With conventional lighting towers, the nature of intersections—where various facilities such as power cables and communication lines are buried underground—requires extensive preparation and time, whereas this product’s entire system, including its spun-concrete base, consists of a total of five components (5 Easy Pieces™), enabling simple and rapid assembly and installation within a small construction footprint. The reduced installation time lowers costs, and because no additional curing work is required, complaints stemming from traffic congestion during construction are also minimized.
Lee Dae-woo, head of Musco Korea’s Korea office, added, “As a global leader in lighting for sports stadiums, public infrastructure, and intersections, we strive to contribute to better lives through continuous investment in R&D. Our goal is to provide the utmost satisfaction—from intersections to various sports stadiums, airports, and ports—and to deliver lighting solutions suited to the surrounding environment,” and, “We hope to continue installing Musco’s intersection LED lighting systems in many local governments, reducing the social and economic losses caused by traffic accidents.” 032-553-8010
