Hyundai L&C, a comprehensive building-materials company affiliated with the Hyundai Department Store Group, has unveiled 'Bodaq Stone Board,' a wall finishing material with enhanced design and functionality.
'Bodaq Stone Board' is a wall finishing material made by wrapping the company's own interior film 'Bodaq Deco' onto an 8mm-thick board made from minerals such as granite. It is a B2B wall finishing material that can be widely applied to residential facilities as well as a variety of commercial and public facilities. The new product is a premium wall finishing material that applies the stone compression technology drawing attention in the Northern European building-materials market. In addition to basic design patterns such as marble, stone, and wood, it also offers customized products with film designs developed and tailored to each client. Hyundai L&C established a dedicated design team devoted to developing films for Bodaq Stone Board, building an order-made process, and enabling clients to choose the film material—such as PET, PVC, or PP—in consideration of their intended use and budget.
In particular, because 'Bodaq Stone Board' is a dual-purpose exterior/interior wall finishing material that can be applied to both the outside and inside of buildings, it boasts high durability and product stability, and it has passed all tests for stain resistance as well as for hazardous substances such as heavy metals, radon, and TVOCs. In addition, the mineral board that serves as the core material has a low moisture absorption rate and little deformation, making it suitable for bathrooms and building exteriors that are frequently exposed to moisture. On top of this, to enhance its usability as an exterior material, the company also developed a specialized exterior deco film that has been certified for semi-noncombustible performance by the FITI Testing & Research Institute, an internationally accredited testing and certification body. The semi-noncombustible film keeps flames from spreading further in the event of a fire and suppresses the release of toxic gases. Its light weight and ease of installation are also strengths. About 40% lighter than a 6mm tile of the same area, it can be transported quickly during installation without dedicated carrying tools, and because it can be installed using a dry construction method, it can significantly reduce construction time.
A Hyundai L&C official said, “Bodaq Stone Board is a new-concept wall finishing material that applies advanced board production techniques to the interior film technology we possess,” adding, “Building on our advanced technological capabilities, we will actively target the global market and establish ourselves as a leading building-materials company recognized for its technology in overseas markets as well.”
