Samhwa Paints Industrial has launched two interior paints, 'Natural Value Water-Based Interior,' incorporating patent-pending eco-friendly bio-based coating technology.
Samhwa Paints' newly launched 'Natural Value Water-Based Interior' comes in two products—▲Natural Value Water-Based Interior Eggshell and ▲Natural Value Water-Based Interior Matte—developed from natural raw materials extracted from plants such as corn, cassava, and sugar beet, and is distinguished by the application of Samhwa Paints' new bio-technology.
While conventional bio-coatings are made by replacing a portion of the organic solvents with renewable bio-based raw materials, the two water-based paints in the 'Natural Value Water-Based Interior' line, made with Samhwa Paints' new technology, employ advanced technology that synthesizes petroleum-based monomers by substituting them with natural monomers.
The products include antibacterial and anti-mold functions, and their low VOC (volatile organic compound) content means less odor, while being designed so that even beginners can apply them easily. In particular, in addition to white, a wide range of colors can be realized, allowing vibrant color schemes even in spaces where eco-friendliness is essential, such as children's facilities, senior centers, and hospitals.
A Samhwa Paints official said, "Our new Natural Value Water-Based Interior product is the result of Samhwa Paints' continuous investment in research and development to create spaces where people can live with peace of mind," adding, "As consumer interest in eco-friendly products surges, we expect sales of these bio-based products to rise sharply as well."
Meanwhile, the new products obtained USDA Certified Biobased Product certification from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) this past April, the environmental label (Eco-Label) certification from the Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute under the Ministry of Environment in May, and the eco-friendly building material HB Mark certification from the Korea Air Cleaning Association in October; the internationally recognized U.S. UL ECV (Environmental Claims Validations) certification is also in progress. 1544-5357
