Hyundai Elevator announced that it is unveiling 'MIRI', an innovative advanced elevator maintenance service that integrates the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI), cloud and big data, and robotics technologies.

The name of the new service, 'MIRI' (meaning "in advance" in Korean), embodies the company's commitment to "respond in advance, before the customer even calls, to deliver the highest level of customer satisfaction." The advanced elevator maintenance service 'MIRI' applies the 'elevator availability enhancement technology' that Hyundai Elevator developed over 33 months beginning in 2020 as a national R&D project of the Korea Evaluation Institute of Industrial Technology, together with industry, academia, research institutions, and the competent authorities. This technology can reduce downtime (out-of-service time) caused by elevator breakdowns by up to 43% compared to the existing level. The key technologies that make this possible include ▲a component-lifespan measurement model ▲a fault detection and classification service ▲a pre-fault detection alert service ▲a dedicated elevator IoT gateway, among others.

Customers can respond proactively by checking the component replacement cycles and abnormal signals provided by 'MIRI', and even when a problem occurs, on-site situation information is delivered to the maintenance technician at the same time the report is filed, dramatically reducing response time. Services tailored to premium, high-tech residential trends also stand out. 'MIRI Call', a remote elevator call system integrated with AI assistant systems such as Siri and Bixby, enhances convenience by reducing boarding wait times, while 'MIRI View', which protects passenger safety based on intelligent video analysis and voice recognition technology, enables rapid response by having AI immediately notify the manager or customer center when an emergency or abnormal situation occurs. In addition, 'MIRI' also includes elevator-robot integration technology—which is expanding to hospitals as well as hotels and mixed-use residential complexes—along with building management system (BMS), security solution, and digital signage integration services.

Hyundai Elevator CEO Cho Jae-cheon emphasized, "The core values that MIRI pursues are communication and connection. We aim to communicate with customers based on transparent elevator information and to deliver new value through the connection of elevators with various devices such as smartphones, AI, and robots," adding, "We expect MIRI to play a pivotal role in transforming the elevator from a means of transportation into a platform."

Meanwhile, Hyundai Elevator also held a 'MIRI' launch event in the grand auditorium of its Smart Campus at its Chungju headquarters. About 400 employees and stakeholders attended the 'MIRI' launch event, which offered a variety of attractions including an introduction to the 'MIRI' service, a robot delivery demonstration, and an experience zone. 043-722-1000
