Global lighting company Signify (formerly Philips Lighting) has launched a music sync service with Samsung SmartThings.
Going forward, connecting Signify's smart lighting 'Philips Hue' to the Samsung SmartThings app will sync music and lighting. Unlike ordinary lighting that simply provides illumination, 'Philips Hue' is LED smart lighting whose brightness and color can be controlled via smartphones, tablets, and other devices. SmartThings is a smart home application that connects a wide range of devices—including TVs, home appliances, and mobile products—to one another based on the Internet of Things (IoT).
Previously, connecting 'Philips Hue' products to the Samsung SmartThings app enabled lighting control such as setting timers and changing brightness, color temperature, and color. In addition to this, connecting SmartThings to 'Philips Hue' color lighting products going forward adds a music sync feature, making it possible to create a dynamic entertainment environment.
Every sound played on a Samsung Galaxy phone or tablet is instantly expressed through 'Philips Hue' lighting, and the lighting effects and colors change according to the beat and volume of the audio, delivering an even more immersive experience. In particular, it is compatible with a variety of domestic and international music streaming app services—including Spotify, YouTube Music, SoundCloud, Melon, Bugs, FLO, and Genie Music—allowing consumers to use the feature even more conveniently.
