Shinhan Wallpaper has unveiled its premium duplex wallpaper 'The Goun.'

As exposure to various germs and fine dust becomes increasingly common in everyday life, fine dust often contains heavy metals and harmful substances that can cause various illnesses. Recently, outdoor activities have declined due to COVID-19, but caution is very much needed indoors as well, since one can be exposed to various harmful substances there too. Could our home—the space where our family stays—be made into a place where we can rest even a little more safely and comfortably? It was out of this concern that Shinhan Wallpaper came to unveil its duplex wallpaper 'The Goun.'

The new duplex wallpaper 'The Goun' expresses its beautiful colors through a collaboration with the Naju Natural Dyeing Cultural Foundation, renowned for natural dyeing.

Eight natural dyes have been captured in the wallpaper, including 'indigo' with its deep blue hue resembling the sky, 'green tea' with its strong dyeing power and vivid color, the mysterious purple 'gromwell,' the radiant 'marigold' whose name evokes a golden goblet, and 'white clay,' which has long been used as a precious material. Another distinctive feature is the use of 'water-based ink' instead of oil-based ink containing volatile organic solvents such as benzene and toluene, adding eco-friendliness.

In addition, the duplex wallpaper 'The Goun' is enhanced with a specially treated antibacterial coating that helps block external germs. Tests conducted by the Korea Conformity Laboratories (KCL) confirmed that it is superior to ordinary wallpaper in blocking germs. Furthermore, it has been designated an 'Environmental Label, Eco-Friendly Building Material Certification, and Korea Atopy Association Recommended Product,' so it can be used with peace of mind even in homes with children. In addition, testing confirmed that 'The Goun' had none of the 14 major heavy metals—such as mercury, lead, and cadmium—detected.

Shinhan Wallpaper explained, "Because duplex wallpaper is made of paper, it is eco-friendly, but it has the drawback that its embossed texture can diminish after installation. The newly released 'The Goun' overcomes this drawback of duplex wallpaper, offering the advantage of a thick, three-dimensional embossed texture that can be felt even after installation."
